I take pics of both receipts separately, crop them, then use LibreOffice Impress (like MS Powerpoint) to merge the two receipts into one page. After saving the file in its' native format, I export it to .jpg format and all-done. Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy....

LOL, msimon. That's so far over my head, it might as well be in a foreign language.

LOL ceasesmith -- normally I would agree with you, but many of my receipts are too long for one pic, so I fold it in half and take pics of the top and bottom. I then use the process I outlined to merge them into one file, side-by-side. I have gotten so used to this, that I just use the same method when dealing with two receipts.
It is quick and easy, results in a high quality receipt for submission, and best of all, I have never had a shop returned for a receipt issue (knocks on wood).

When I get receipts that are too long to be readable after scanning or being photographed, I cut them in half and lay the pieces side-by-side and either scan or photograph both at once. Very simple. No MSC has ever objected to that.
Edited to add: In cases when I need to upload both the front and back of a business card, but only one upload is permitted, I scan each one, and drop each into PowerPoint so that they are side-by-side. I prefer to then use SnagIt to produce the appropriate JPG image, but the Snip tool works well also.

I am pretty sure Irene once said she uses her scanner and not a cell download for receipts. that is what I do so I just put the two receipts on my scanner glass. I purposely bought one with a glass and not just a feeder because it is such a pain to have to tape a receipt to paper and then copy the paper as it will get stuck in the feeder. In any case then I just scan it in with both receipts on the same scan side by side. I do always have to cut the receipts for the post office shops so i do the same thing of laying them side by side. Most companies with two receipts that I work for want them in the same file. Anywhere I need to send a pic of back and front of a card has two spots to load the pic. one for back and one for front.
I am not really sure why some of these companies that pay a pittance for the report set their requirements so that it is impossible to just simply scan or load a pic and send it to them. Fiddling around with different programs so that you can get it to fit their requirements to me is at a much higher pay level than mystery shopping.

I am sure that you are trainable. There are many ways to accomplish this. I can think of ways that just use a scanner. I can think of many software options depending upon what you do or don't have. CEASE (or anyone else), if you want a personalized discussion and training, just PM me.

A challenge for me! The key is knowing what to call what you want to do. If you take two separate photos (front and back of a business card, for instance) but need to have just one upload, you need to create a collage. Collage is the keyword. Regardless of whether you want to do this with an iPhone or Android, there is software to do this using only your smartphone. WOW! that a lot of work, why just photograph the receipts side by side? Need a PDF? Just print to PDF.

I havent used my scanner since acquiring my first smartphone. Why anyone would is a mystery to me.
If you're combining two receipts into one image, Paint is the easiest way to do that, I've found. But still easier is scanning them together on the glass if you have that kind of scanner. I, too, cut too-long receipts in half and scan, and never had an editor object to that.

Since people are talking receipts...I just recently got a smart phone so I have no idea how to do many, many things on it that are hidden behind icons I do not recognize. I use a scanner and find it so much easier than a phone to scan receipts and then load camera photos into my computer (down or up I can never remember).
The receipt question I have is the ones that get emailed to me. I spent at least 30 minutes the other day trying to copy and paste an emailed receipt from a kiosk shop that only had that choice. I used screenshot and copied into a word document. That took a while until trying what seemed like the same way over and over finally worked. Copy and paste on my emails does not exist. Then I had to convert to a jpg which again took forever. Since i do this infrequently and never remember it was a painful process. If anyone has some ideas on how to quickly turn an email receipt into a jpg let me know. Spending 10 minutes screen shotting and converting even if I get good at it and then trying to find it later is way too much time for these measly pay shops when this is the smallest part of the report.

It depends on where I am doing the reporting. If I am reporting via an app on my phone, why of course I use my phone. But, if I am doing a report on my desktop, sometimes it's just easier to use my scanner, which is sitting right next to my desk. More often than not these days I am using the phone, though, since almost everything I do is reported through an app.

I don't scan, just put my SD card into computer and upload, if the two can't be read, I send them to the scheduler and let her upload into report, always works

I take a photo no matter where I am reporting. I have a corkboard near my desk. I put the receipt on it (in two sections if necessary) and photograph it. The photograph automatically goes to the cloud and I am already seated at my computer doing the report. I attach the file like normal. I never had to do a thing except snap a photo of it.

I did not grow up with tech, either. I learned most of the things I know just by trying. We got our first computer around 2000 and I started playing around on it, signed up with MSCs, and learned as I went along. Then, much later (2009), I did take some Microsoft Office classes (when I was going to school to get my Medical Transcription degree). I kinda already knew what I was doing by then, though. I did learn a few new things.

It isn't a lot of work. It works for me, is quick, and the main reason I do it this way is I don't want to cut my receipts in half. To each their own I guess...
