I think that 80% of the shops I do involve narratives, so the kinds of company-specific apps where you can enter data in the field on a smart phone don't work for me. But I have entered shops and uploaded photos onto certain company websites for fast food/fast casual shops while in the field.
For notes, I write them in an email, then send to myself the notes email along with photos and geoverify screenshots attached. I do this for nearly all shops I do. Then it's just a matter of using the email summary to fill out the narratives, and the info on timing to fill out the remainder of the shop form. I have a record of my notes, which I save as a pdf to keep with a pdf copy of the shop results and collateral.
As I'm typing on my phone to make the email, it looks like I'm texting. On some shops practically all the customers have their heads buried in their phones while they are waiting for their food orders, for example; I would be out of place if I were not on the phone. (Could it be that they are all shoppers...?)
