Did you post in the wrong thread? ??? (Wasn't sure who/what you were referring to.)

That was my recent total for Little Hamburger, Small Fry, and Regular (their smallest) Drink.

Time to up the reimbursements!!! (of $12.75 only)

Wow, my total for the exact same order was $11.63 yesterday, and BLT is always under. I guess it's all about location. They are high though.

So is the grilled cheese any good? I'm thinking of getting that next time.

Yes! I get it topped with grilled onions, lettuce and tomatoes.
Multiple stores over $15.00 now in my area. sad smiley

Would I eat there on own dime? - not at these prices. Pretty soon FG will be $20 for a basic meal.

I monthly get a email to do the one in my town, say I will and no word, it goes to another, not to worry, I do many good burger places and actually make money.....Black Angus has a burger that will knock your socks off and being a rewards member, get 25% off and different promotions that work for me....

I'm on a diet, so I have the grilled cheese. They're not bad. I stay under the budget.
Bringing my own cheese slices can only cut costs so much.... Soon, I may have to just order a grilled cheese and bring my own meat!!

I did one yesterday and only went 77 cents over the reimbursement for my little burger, little fries, and soft drink. And our area has a pretty high tax rate.

I tried the grilled cheese and thought it was awful. They use the same buns as used for burgers and turn them inside out with cheese in the middle. I think the buns are too thick. I often take off some of the bun even when I get a burger. Sometimes I like to just get the burgers in a bowl and after tasting them, bring them home, freeze and use for making an addition to soup, chili, etc.

If you're accustomed to grilled cheese sandwiches with the both pieces of the bread grilled in butter, and stuffed with cheese that is melted, know that the 5G grilled cheese sandwiches are simply cheese between two pre-toasted hamburger buns. Not the same for me, but to each their own.

Here in NY, the little cheeseburger, little fries, and regular drink (smallest size) costs $15.01 with tax. The places are mostly empty, but after school some locations close to high schools get crowed around 3:30, with three or four kids sharing one order of fries and a couple of burgers and dogs.

At Shake Shack, their cheeseburger, plain fries, and small lemonade costs $12.82 with tax. And the MS company fully reimburses whatever they ask you to buy. And it's nearly always full, sometimes standing room only.

Ask for extra cheese or bring your own additional cheese. Extra cheese surprisingly didn't cost extra last time I got it. But otherwise, the main difference is the bread being buns and them using mayo instead of butter or margarine.

Some decades ago I worked at the scottish burger place. A few of my fellow crew members had been around for many, many years. Occasionally a customer (usually with a few or many gray hairs, as I now have) would come in and request a grilled cheese which had at some prior point been on the menu. Veteran crew would smile and called all of the bright-eyed innocent youngsters like me to their side to see how it was done. This is exactly how they were made: two slices of cheese between a bun turned inside out. But they were pressed in a two-sided bun toaster which made them about a half inch thick.

It went though the register as a cheeseburger. The customer traded their burger patty and condiments for the second slice of cheese.

The other occasional special request that came through? The double cheeseburger, which is on the menu again now and has been for years.

Being Lactose Intolerant, grilled cheese doesn't work for me, and I like certain cheeses anyway, so don't need to do a report for no fee. We have a great burger place that is shopped with a fee, the Hook, and even Red Robin includes fries and is a better burger...my FG is never busy and is at a great location. They have much to compete with, reason for closing's.

Higher Prices + Too many Restaurants close to each other = bad traffic. It's a rare sight for me to see more than 3 occupied tables when I go & I usually do these shops during peak times.
"what company offer five guys shop? I would like to try!"

Violation of ICA and forum rules. Keep looking ... you'll find 'em!
Last night I did a TRH and spent less than $24.00 including tip. I had a sirloin steak, sweet potato and beautiful salad...oh and a margarita too. (the early dinning special is great) Why would anyone choose a greasy burger and all those salty fries for nearly $15.00? I will only do them when I'm paid well. I do enjoy a burger now and then, but they might be pricing themselves out of business.

Ms. Judi, I like TRH pretty well (though I would get a ribeye or a filet), but I like the 5G shops just fine (as long as there is a hefty bonus). I rarely eat more than 10 fries, and I don't find their burgers greasy at all. But I only eat there about 3-5x a year. And in my area, I can get a burger, fries, and a drink for around $12. I don't eat there on my own dime and I require a bonus of over $20 to go there, and only if I am already doing other shops nearby.
JAS..I agree..I regularly do the 5 Guys shops and a lot more often than 5 times per year. Sometimes it's two to three times per month. However, I would not choose to dine there on my own dime and I take most of the fries home for my dog who also only gets a few. The rest are trash. I was just pointing out the better value of enjoying a meal at TRH for a few bucks more. Of course the rotation on those is a lot longer and there are fewer of them than 5 Guys.

Sonic is nasty. I've only ever eaten there once. It was a bonused shop. They can't pay me enough to go back again.

In Canada, the closest Five Guys to me in which I used to shop closed down last month!!! I mean the prices are vey high. I rarely get what I like because anything good is rarely under 14 bucks as a combo.
@johnb974 wrote:

There are two different MSCs that do Sonic, john. I think I know the one you're talking about. I do them for the other one. smiling smiley Covers me meal okay. But, I don't like their food. I use the shops as route fillers mainly. Would never eat there on my own dime even if it was cheap.
I did this job just twice in the high priced city I live in. I think the bonus when I finally took it was about $2. I had to park and walk for ten minutes to avoid a parking fee. I had the ?cheese sandwich? which was memorable in the (lack of) size and the fact that it was a puffy bread with little cheese on it. Lots of fries that I had to eat first or pour onto the table on a napkin to get to my sandwich. the only thing I enjoyed was the peanuts. The other location I shopped their mini burgers compared to the size at other places is a few steps away from BJ's where any day of the week the big regular burger with fries is $10 and the fancy burgers on Wed are $10 with unlimited fries. You do need to sit down and tip the server tho. Free water as a drink is just fine with me. I have no idea the price but I am sure it is up there with other pricey cities.
Little burger, fries and a soda come to 12.44 here. I never get a burger without cheese and I never do these shops without a bonus. That being said, you are an IC, you can pick and choose what you want to do. If you don't like the reimbursement/pay, don't do it. It's that easy.

Shopping the South Jersey Shore
Yes, and if you are getting a decent bonus, it absorbs any overages. I always get bacon on mine smiling smiley I also just get the little fries and I can never finish them all.
These are the best when they are bonused. For the amount of time and work, compared to the money, these are great. Where we are, a small burger, fries, and drink is around $15. I don't know how they stay in business. Last week, the place was packed, much of it food delivery too, so $15 plus the delivery fee and tip. How people can spend money like this when 80% of the country lives paycheck to paycheck is a mystery (or that's why this is the case, decisions like this).
