If you Google, there are lots of Five Guys overpriced articles. Seems like customers are balking at prices in some places:

As the number of outlets serving “better” burgers—featuring nontraditional toppings and artisan buns—has skyrocketed over the past decade, so has the average burger tab, turning some customers off.

Brian Cockerline, a 20-year-old Rutgers University student, used to go to Five Guys for a burger once a week in South Plainfield, N.J. With fries and a drink, his tab was about $13.

Now, he is cooking burgers at home instead.

“I like Five Guys, but I can buy ground beef and one onion and get pretty close to the same burger for half the cost,” said Mr. Cockerline, who rarely goes to Five Guys anymore. “A hamburger, to me, is not a luxury,” he said.

Five Guys declined to comment.

I often wonder if they still teach about price elasticity anymore, Something I learned in Econ 101 almost 60 years ago. Thank you Samuelson.

I haven't done a 5G in a few weeks. The last three I did had gone up in price all three times. I ordered a little cheeseburger, little fries and a drink each time. The last time, it was over $14. I will not do these shops for less than $18 and the call center knows it. Yet, the shops disappear early in my area. I can tell when the same shoppers are out of rotation because that is when I get calls. I am going to assume my meal is now at $15.

I've heard people reference rotation for FG, but never knew what it was...2 weeks....3 weeks?

In the past, I think I've done back-to-back week shops for the same store. Is that not allowed anymore? For me, it's not even an option, as there are shoppers in my area that seem to take them at base too. I also ask for $18-22 per shop. Lately, I've been getting it.

Does anyone know the exact quota/rotation on FG?
I don't know the exact time of rotation. I do know if I complete an assignment at a particular location, I don't see that location for at least a week or two. There are three locations in my area. Shops in my area get taken quickly as well. I guess some don't mind $6 or $8 fees. I will offer a fee when I get those emails, but I have gotten lazy. I just wait for a weekend call from the friendly call center. If I can do it, they seem to know what to offer. The MSC needs to raise the reimbursement no matter the fee.

Same order for me is $12.34 including tax. Sub grilled cheese $11.59, sub hot dog 12.02. No one should be charging $5 for a freaking hot dog!!

.
Note that the MSC guidelines recommend getting a hot dog or grilled cheese to stay within the reimbursement. For more than a year, my little burger, little fries and small (regular) drink is always $14.19. The only reason I do the shop is that I get a $10 bonus. But, the bigger issue that others have raised is: Who pays $14.19 for a small burger, fries and soda? I can get the same meal at In-N-Out for $6.79!

Shopping SoCal and Maui.
I get grilled cheese and add bacon ($1 more) and tomato (free). I like the bun but find the cheese is not fully melted, and that disappoints me. Fries are good, and we always get the extra. They have bags so you can take peanuts home too, you just need to ask.
As good as their burgers and hot dogs are, I was surprised how bad the grilled cheese
was. I will say they usually get very high ratings from me and are definitely run better than many other comparable FF joints.

My problem is that they don’t serve sauerkraut with their hot dogs. I even brought my own in a cup one time. I’ve suggested they offer sauerkraut several times but to no avail.

It's an aluminum container, used for grilled vegs. Also used for a burger or hotdog without a bun. I like to get the burger without a bun. They do a nice job of arranging the cold vegs - lettuce, tomato, onion, etc., on one side. And the grilled vegs and patty on the other side. Nice that there's no charge for "extra" vegs, as opposed to light or regular.

It would be nice if they had chili dogs, too. That would mean they'd have to keep chili on hand, so they should also add a bowl of chili to the menu.

what the heck is a bowl? I have never seen bowls at 5 Guys.

It is bunless. They put evverything in a bowl and provide fork and knife.
They will grill onions, mushrooms and peppers.

I have written XXX several times regarding the prices. Their response is that they'll send the message to their client. It costs me $13.76 for a little Burger, fries and a regular drink. We have to order an entree, fries and beverage. Then if you get a shake, that's another $5.50. It now costs me to do these shops. The only time it's worth it is with delivery. Plus XXX isn't known for their high paying fees.

Just a couple of posts earlier the Moderator removed a forum member's post for revealing the name of the MSC when the client is being discussed - an ICA violation and violation of one of the forum's few rules. kcsnapp, can you edit your post to remove the MSC?
To those who have gotten a burger in a bowl....

I haven't done one of these shops in a few months so it may have changed, but isn't there questions on the bun? Is it not a requirement to get a bun? Thanks!

Kim
Not a requirement. The question is asked if you got a bun. After answering No, the remainder of the bun questions disappear. Same goes for getting a lettuce wrap.
I didn't know that. Thanks!

Where I am, I've NEVER seen more that 3 or 4 people - customers at one time there. They're not good here either. Shame. Employees are goofing off.

There is a question as to how you got your burger and bowl is one of the options so i check that box.
I’m in MD and DE and 98% the employees are excellent. Guess it depends on where you are....

The prices are different. Our little fries are 3.99. A bacon burger is 9.19.
