Really bad sales person for a cell phone shop

I had a cell phone shop today for the Samsung Galaxy S10+ You’re to test the salesperson’s knowledge of the phone. I start asking the salesperson about the S10 +. He pulls out his own phone, to show me he has the S10+. I asked about some of the features, he said very little. I asked about the "Intelligent Battery" (The battery learns what apps you use most and shuts off apps not used) He had no idea what that was. I asked about the Cinematic Display. He said it was just a bigger screen. I asked to see the Demo on the phone. He had no idea where that was on the phone. I had to show him where it was. It was just unbelievable. He’s a salesperson who owns the phone yet knew very little about it.

I've seen a lot of really bad salesmen. My favorite was the one that tried to talk me out of an iPhone in favor of Android.
I used to work for a call center for a major cell phone carrier. Many of our customer service calls were the result of the salesperson being poorly trained, irresponsible, careless, or worse. I saw people set up with multiple plans for one line. Many people thought they were given a "free phone" for signing a 2-year contract, but they were actually on an installment plan.

I had one customer call to see if she could cut her husband's plan back to save money. Through smalltalk as I worked, I found out that she had visited one of the retail stores to try and get help. She explained that her husband was in the military and was just stationed overseas, so they would not be using the phone for a year. The store said they could not help her because she had signed a contract. There is a clause in the contract that allows those in the military to pause their service at no penalty if they are called for service. If she hadn't called, she would have been out $600 that year for no reason.

I had this happen too. I also had someone ask me why I'd want to go to an android. LOL
Samsung has the Android market. They probably feel like their products speak for themselves. LG, on the other hand, is really trying. They actually make better phones and tvs than Samsung, but you would never know it.

That may be so, but it doesn't excuse the sales person from not knowing the features of the phone, especially since they own a Samsung S10+
My previous phone was an LG.
I hated it. I have the Samsung S9+ now and I love it.

The responses I usually get encompass the larger screen and really great camera. Few associates go into the detail the MSC is looking for, IMHO. I have to chuckle when the associate actually has the phone and doesn't know what it can do or doesn't share the info. I will give them the benefit of the doubt figuring I'm an old fart who wouldn't understand.

JAS, I have an S7 and my last 3 phones have been Galaxies. My phone at work was an S8. They are all great phones, but they have their quirks. I'm going to give LG a try next to see what it's about.
