Geoverify gone?

I've had issues with the app in the past, but I'm at a shop and not only does it not recognize my location, but when I go to the Google play store the app doesn't even show up with a search. Can someone else on android give it a go and let me know if it's just me?

I turned off developer settings on my phone (turned on for another shop- didn't have any probs with Geoverify then) and now was able to locate. No idea why it's not showing up in the play store...not even as an app I have already downloaded!
I just wish more companies would USE it! Ticks me off when I have to purchase a small item, not reimbursed) to "prove" I was there when I could use GeoVerify and have an ACCURATE time stamp as well as coordinates.
In order to get an accurate location I have to restart the phone. Otherwise it shows me at home. If an app doesn't work right, and is known not to work right, it shouldn't be required.

There was a discussion about a month ago of how easy it is (if you know how to do this and use the right app or program) to change the meta-data associated with a photo on a cell phone. That is where the geo-tag information is stored. I personally do not know how to fool the GeoVerify program, but I recall about a year ago that someone said that they knew how to do that also. GeoVerify is so specialized that no one is writing apps targetting GeoVerify.

Seems obsolete now anyway, when most phones can geo-tag photos.

I used GeoVerify yesterday, and it worked fine as usual. Occasionally, getting the code is slow (presumably due to slow cell phone network). There are some locations where I am always shown being a mile or two away. Schedulers have told me that is due to the street location being incorrectly coded into GeoVerify. If I notice, I comment in the report. The GeoVerify map always shows me at the correct physical location.

In terms of fooling GeoVerify, its definitely not simple. For example, I previously used a FakeLocation app to spoof my location for some of the major online dating apps because one of them would identify your location up to .2 miles and I didn't want people knowing where I was at night. That spoof app did NOT change my location for GeoVerify, because they required the "High Accuracy" location setting turned on, which also pulls from wifi networks to verify location. So yes, I'm sure its possible but likely not with the basic GPS spoof apps available in the store.
Not on my android phone. It's still callled Geoverify.

On android, the app is now called "GPS Verifier". Find it here: [play.google.com]
I didn't click your link. I just went to the Play Store on my phone. GPS Verifier does not exist. Why did you include a link in your post, knowing that most forum members would be too wary to click on it?

I misspoke. I should have said that users trying to find it on Google Play store (like the OP) will find it listed as GPS Verifier now.

GPS Verifier replaces Geoverify, and Geoverify can no longer be found as a new install. This is the question posed by the OP. But yes, those who still have the now-deprecated Geoverify on their android phone may be able to keep / use it for a while before they are required to update to the replacement app GPS Verifier.

I'm not sure I understand your question, or accept your premise. I do not know whether "most forum members" would be wary or not. But it's certainly OK with me if those that ARE wary and or who already have the old app in a functional state ignore the link and do not click on it. As you probably should have done.

The app does in fact exist, but it is very new and not yet universally in the searches. I needed a copy myself and thought others may have the same trouble finding it. So I shared a link.

Thank you for the clarification. I did not mean to insult you by being suspicious. I still have not found Geo Verifier in the Play Store. I guess I will cross that bridge when I reach it.

Jas, just FYI. I had been having trouble trying to get Geoverify on my android phone. It would not work so I gave up on it.I tried GPS Verifier, mentioned by Justforfun, and it worked fine. I did not click on the link, I just searched it in PlayStore. Just wanted you to know that Geoverifier works for me.

Interesting. I have been using Geoverify for several years with no issues (just used it Monday). I wonder if it's a geographical thing, like satellite reception in your area?

Still can't find GPS Verifier, but I guess when Geoverify quits working on my phone I will remove the app and try something else. It's absolutely mandatory for my Sam's Club brochure visits so I will have to see what alternative the MSC wants us to use in that event.
jas - I used Geoverify for years too, with the same cell provider but an earlier version of my android phone. For gpsverifier - did you try it as one word?
Also, I'm technical enough to go through all the developer modifications suggested to bring up geo verify. But I refuse to go through all that. If an application works, it should work without that. I imagine there are a lot of people scared to do that on their phone, as one slip up could mess up.

No, didn't try it as one word. I have a nice Samsung S9+, no issues, geoverify pings my location instantly and accurately. Going to leave well enough alone until the time comes I have to do something else. Thanks for the info, Justforfun and CureMS.
FWIW, I installed GPS Verifier along with the GeoVerify app I already had. I had to spell out the entire name to find it in the Google Play Store. The new app looks just like the old app and appears to work the same way. Even the app icons are identical.
They are suppose to be the same under the "Sassie" earmark. Jas, I have the Samsung S9+ too but couldn't get geo verify to work on mine lately. Go figure. I guess we both should leave well enough alone and both use what works for us.

Exactly. I do appreciate the info, however, and it may come in handy in the future, thank you!
I used GeoVerifier several times yesterday without any problems. Out of curiosity, I just searched for GPS Verifier in the Google Play Store, and I found it.
