Five Guys Gift Cards

Has anyone used a gift card for the Five Guys shops? See nothing about it in the guidelines, but still makes me nervous to try it.

They work like a charm.

I agree.

Nothing in the guidelines against using gift cards. They do not care how you pay. I've paid with gift cards, cash, credit and debit. I swipe and when possible use contactless payments as well (Samsung Pay). The shop does not require any specific observations above payment processing.

The delivery process may differ, I have yet to perform a delivery scenario.

Curious what the benefit of using a gift card is, other than just using it to get rid of a gift card?
Gift cards can often be bought discounted. When my credit card offers their 5% 'cash back' bonus on 'grocery' I buy gift cards from the grocery for gas, restaurants and other things I use. I understand that COSTCO always sells gift cards with discounts (I'm not a member so this is second hand information). I understand that Target sells gift cards and I can get a 5% discount on cards there using my Target Red Card (I have not looked to see what they have and/or whether I get my 5% discount at the register for a gift card).

Discounted cards are also available for purchase on line by Raise.com and other vendors. Typically I purchase Five Guys cards for 80 to 90 cents on the dollar from a place like Raise.

I see two big advantages to using gift cards: 1) the location being shopped does not have my name or any records of my personal information and 2) if my gift card gets skimmed they can only steal the value remaining on the card.

Edited to add: Around the holidays many of the restaurants I shop have gift card deals that frequently amount to 20 to 25% savings. I load up on cards of the restaurants where I can use such cards on shops. Just a little added profit to my shop as I am reimbursed for the $ spent, not the cost of the $ spent.

I am really cheap! How come I never knew about this? What a GREAT idea!
Be sure to check your credit cards for Five Guys offers. I recently had a multi-use 10% back offer from American Express for up to $30 so it covered two shops including one with a shake purchase. I've had similar offers from Chase and Bank of America (but they were single use).

I often buy Darden gift cards when I can get a discount. You can use them at any of their restaurants, no matter what restaurant name is on the card. Those shops say no coupons but gift cards are fine.

Smashburger shops say that you cannot use a gift card, presumably because they sell them at a discount at Costco.

Yes, I use gift cards solely for the reason of 2x or 4x gas points at my local grocery store. Texas Roadhouse and Shell are also places I mystery shop and use gift cards as payment.
I was in Target last evening and thought to check if I indeed got 5% off gift cards with my Target Red Card. They had Five Guys cards. I bought a different card that never shows up on Raise with a decent discount so can affirm that the Red Card gives 5% off on gift cards. My last Five Guys card I got 11% off on from Raise.
I buy them at Kroger for the fuel points -- then use for shops. Have for years, never had an issue.
Cardpool.com and Card Cash.com sell discounted gift cards. Do not use Gift cards for Panda shops.
after my son having his bank card skimmed twice in a month, we decided to only use gift cards for shops from now on, even if it means buying the gift card the same day. You can also buy gift cards at Kroger for 4x gas points. So if you buy a 100 gift card, you will get 400 gas points, that is 40 cents off up to 35 gallons of gasoline. So at the end of the month my son and I take all of our gas cans to Kroger and use our gas points to fill up 7 gas cans, and we drive a car that gets 40 MPG. between that and the gas station shops where we have to purchase gasoline, for reimbursement of course, we almost never have to pay full price for gasoline.
There is very little selection right now on the gift card sites. One portal is selling new (digital) cards and offering about 1% credit on their site to use towards other purchases. Hopefully the holidays in as few months builds some real inventory back up with reasonable savings.

I just made an amusing discovery. Raise.com has a mobile ap as well as the computer presence I have used for years. You can pay using Paypal if you use the mobile ap. For July, August and September, Discover card is giving 5% cash back when you pay using them through Paypal.

I was in Home Depot yesterday and noted they had patio furniture "up to 40% off" but had a nice patio set marked 50% off. Today Raise had a 3% discount on a large denomination digital HD gift card which, if bought through their mobile ap using Paypal with the Discover card would come to an 8% discount. This evening I haggled with HD about the patio set and got an additional 25% discount and then paid with still another 8% discount. Works for me!

The only thing I have found is NO EBT
EBT should not work or be used on any shop because last I heard it was illegal to reimburse EBT spent.

I buy my Chevron gift cards at Kroger, but they do not count towards fuel points there. It an exception to the program.
I have found that unless I am getting the full $1 off, it is cheaper to buy my gas at COSTCO or ARCO not at Shell with the Kroger savings. There is a Kroger gas station, but it is a 30 minute drive.
