Tobacco Compliance Question

So my kid is about to start tobacco compliance shops. None of us, including him, know anything about cigarettes, Juul, vaping, or any of that. He's trying to figure out what to ask for that will look natural to an 18 year old. We're in the Northeast where young people don't smoke cigarettes anymore. ANy ideas???

If you’re buying cigarettes not vaping products, you are supposed to buy one of the cheaper brands.
We used to buy Pall Mall red.
Most young people that I know that smoke generally smoke American Spirit, Marlboro or Camel, but those are too expensive for the project.

I can’t help you on the vaping products. I’ve been saying since the stupid craze started that they were going to turn out to be worse than cigarettes, and it appears that they are.
Hoju,
Your teen may just look like another who has become leery of vaping and moving to cigarettes. Viceroy used to be fairly cheap, comparatively.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
There's no purchase here. This is a Maritz job.
Jeez, kids are moving back to smoking???

Go with JUUL pods for e-cig (Common sizes sold: 2-pack or 4-pack; Common flavors sold in store: classic tobacco, Virginia tobacco, menthol, mint). Most younger people vape JUUL.
For cigarette, American Spirit is slightly more popular with younger people or a black & white cigarillo (apparently younger people buy it to roll joints with it.)
Honestly, I wouldn't think about too much what brands make you look "natural." When I first started tobacco compliance shops, I literally just pointed at the cheapest tobacco product I could spot and asked for it. The cashiers never gave weird looks or become suspicious.
Thanks, azn. It's weird talking to my kid about which cigarettes he should 'buy.'

Yeah. You can smoke for 20-50 years and be ok, but vaping might kill you in 1-5 years.
My brother worked in a warehouse where guys smoked and we asked for preferences and then resold cheap. My niece made a ton on these.

Thanks for getting him signed up with us. If he has any friends in the area I can really use another IC. He can only do 30 shops and I need 54 total. Thanks, Stacy

Thanks, Stacy. Dionne mentioned that the client may allow one shopper to do more than 30. Hoping that’s true. He’s working on his first bunch today.
Any thoughts if these can be combined with the standard revealed audit of the same client?

Yes they can be combined, as long as he does the MS portion of both shops prior to revealing himself as an IC. The MS/Audit program starts on Sept 3rd, not sure which locations have been released for shopping in your area. More will be released in a couple of weeks for shopping in October.

Depending on where you are 18 might be too young for compliance shops. Smoking age in MA is 21 now.
There’s no actual purchase involved.

For this shop there is no purchase, we are simply seeing if they get carded when trying to make a purchase. Our age range for these shops are 18-30.

Well he did his first 8 today and quickly learned that Marlboro Red's are available everywhere so he's going with that.
