Funny Mobee Story

First day experience with Mobee - Detained at Home Depot
On mobile in my car typing this up.

My first mission was at my local Home Depot. The missions started okay enough. The first questions went like 'How filled is the parking lot? How many customers at self check out? " Then got less okay. "Take a pic of self checkout." Okay...I felt uncomfortable, but 1.25 for little work. I took the pic. The next task was to report how many customer's at regular checkout. Okay...now take a pic. Oh yeez. 'Okay, this will be it, I'm too deep now for my $1.25' I thought. Next question " how many customers at garden check out?".... **it. I went and while taking the pic like a dumba**, security showed up and asked why I was taking pictures. Obviously it looks sketchy as hell. The app says not to reveal what you're doing, but f**k that. Don't want the cops to be called. I tell them what I'm doing and why. Another guy shows up and wants to know why I'm casing the place. I repeat my story and they don't believe me. Tell me i gotta wait for the cops. G*d da**it, I just wanted an easy $1.25. Cops show up, and I repeat my story. They tell me in no uncertain terms to not do that again and I'm banned from that Home Depot...

Didn't even get the last pic so couldn't submit for my shi**y $1.25. smiling smiley smiling smiley

You apparently consider mystery shopping a hobby instead of a job. Risk to reward ratio. This is one reason why I would never do a shop under $10. Another reason is that $1.25 is just not worth the time or effort. This is also one of those rare times when I would whip out my PILB card, which is just like the security guard's PILB card, to show that I had just as much right there as he did. Of course any business can ask you to leave. $1.25? You are joking, right? I have never ever seen or heard of a mystery shopping job that offered such low pay. If true, it must surely be a record.
I can't imagine doing that shop for 1.25. Even if you only walk through the door and back out, it's not worth 1.25. That is one thing I don't like about some of the gig apps, you don't know what you're getting into until you're into it.

I generally won’t do the shops that low however I was in a small popular grocery chain and saw one for 150 points. It was actually pretty simple with just a few pictures of some of the fresh and frozen pasta sections. I know, my name is Ken and I’m a mystery shopaholic. I just got a few bananas so I figured they were free that day. No real extra work for me. They do have a section of questions and answers to address what to do if confronted.
Mobee is notorious for hard and near impossible shops and recently they have dropped points to about 200 points...it even says 10 to 15 minutes of work. Doesn't sound like a fair exchange to me. 2 dollars for 30 questions? I do however don't mind their grocery count audits. I hope they increase the prices because I see most shops sitting as usual because of this. I mean they want you to take sneaky pictures inside the small electronics section of a big retailer without drawing attention to yourself lol I usually do these when they are bonused to 700 to 1000 points...they rarely go over 10 bucks lol
What is a "point" worth and how do you redeem it? When I do Mobee shops, I get paid in dollars. I have done a couple dozen Mobee shops for one retail company. I will continue to do them until I start getting recognized for being in there too often. I think they are not too involved and the pay is fair for those I've done.
Mobee pays in points that you redeem for gift cards, donations to charitable organizations. You might be thinking of something else. Mobee does not pay in cash, unless you have some secret app that nobody else does.

Are you confusing the Mobee app with Mobiaudit? Mobee pays in points that can be reimbursed for various things such as different Gift Cards. Most start at 500 points for $5.

That is one thing wrong with the world, most people DON'T read, then wonder why their shop was rejected.

With all due respect, you wrote, "Came across this on another forum," but it was right under your User ID. It blended together with that, since it was all alone, not part of an opening paragraph.
I do not use MobiAudit. I did not like it and uninstalled it almost immediately. However, I have used Mobee for several months and will probably continue to do so in months to come. If more clients come on board, I will use Mobee more often. The app works well, has a simple interface, fast-loading (unlike PrestoMap), never crashes (unlike Source app), and has a small footprint on my android system. Yes, I work for dollars. I don't do jobs that pay me in points, food, gasoline, oil changes, gift cards, prize entries, etc., unless they also pay me what I consider a decent amount of dollars for doing the job.
AZwolfman - The Mobee app I use does not have any jobs that pay in dollars, only points that can be redeemed for giftcards. Are we talking about the same app? Here is the link to it:

I also use Mobee, and yes, I work for points PLUS there is a shopping company that lists paying jobs for Mobee. They pay quite well, actually!

Yes, there is only one Mobee as far as I know.

So far, I do shops for only one company on Mobee. Pay is reasonable, and shops are not difficult and no narratives. It sounds like we may be doing Mobee shops for the same company.

Care to share what company that is? Would not be an ICA or forum violation as the client is not mentioned.

From the Mobee site:

How much is a Mobee point worth?

One Mobee point is worth roughly one cent. As you accrue points, you can redeem gift cards, or donate to charity!

A Mobee point is worth three hero citations.

Some posters said they can earn dollars, not points with a MSC on Mobee. Anyone care to enlighten me on the MSC or MSC’s where this is possible? I shop Mobee regularly and have never seen this. Not an ICA violation as no client mentioned.

What are hero citations worth? I can't nor could ever figure this out.

They're worth nothing.
Hero citations are awarded by schedulers (if they choose) on the Sassie platform. Supposedly, they are you get assignments with that particular MSC. As others have noted, they are worth absolutely nothing.

You can convert your Mobee points into a gift card that is a $100 Visa e-card that can be used on online purchases. That is the closest to actual money instead of a gift card for Starbucks, Old Navy, Whole Foods, etc.
