Gave an objection during an apartment shop that stated "Unit smelled like a dead body." Editor is not amused.

I read the stats on rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina. Some really famous actor raised $20 million plus in donations, to rebuild/rehab houses.

They fixed 110 homes. That's about $182,000 per house.

Using donated materials and volunteer labor.

Makes you wonder where most of the $20 million ended up.

Sure not in housing poor people.

When I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity (2008), we built houses, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, for about $45,000 each. I understand Habitat now builds the same house for about $80,000, so costs have gone up a great deal. Again, that's with volunteer labor and much of the materials are donated.

You're talking about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Brad is an architecture enthusiast. The stats sound high to someone who is perhaps not as familiar with both New Orleans and sustainable architecture. New Orleans is basically build on a swamp. When they rebuilt the houses they spent the money to make solid foundations that would last for years. Their is also a mold problem (because it's a swamp) so they used a lot of materials to cut down on that as well. One of their concerns was that lower income people usually live in houses that are more cheaply constructed. One of the problems with that is they tend to have higher rates of respiratory illnesses. Mold is one of those reasons. Another reason is materials that are high in VOC (volatile organic compounds). They used low VOC paint and other materials that normally would not have been used in low income housing.

Ironically enough his foundation is being sued now because some of the houses are falling apart. Not that his intentions were not good, but oooooops on the implementation.

There are reasons that a body stays in motion
At the moment only demons come to mind
Also, they were not built entirely by volunteer labor and donated materials.
