In home evaluation?

I signed up for an in-home window evaluation. Three contractors are supposed to come. I have emailed the scheduler and have not heard back about the following:

(1) What if they don't show up?
-answer was, "they will"

Based on my experience with contractors, the majority don't show up. What happens if they don't show up? Am I supposed to reschedule and waste more of my life?

(2) How do you get them to leave? I was told it would take 60-90 minutes from the contractor. Is this accurate? For windows? Can you ask them to leave after a certain time?

This iis my day off and I'm getting concerned. If any of you have done anything likd this, I would appreciate your input. Thanks!

I just did a job with a Handyman who stood me up first time, came out second time and didn't give me a written fee for job....this was the owner, and he left second time, but I got business card....maybe my job wasn't big enough for his company. Be careful, this guy flirted with me, and I was a bit uncomfortable, no real problem. I will get paid for two jobs, so that is good. They won't leave till job is done, but shouldn't take more than an hour.,,,,Good luck.

Thanks. I also thought it weird that they are insisting my husband is there. I find that a bit sexist, that a woman can't make financial decisions.
What if you did not have a spouse? Would a friend or tenant be an acceptable third party who could be a buffer between untoward advances or false allegations of such?

K. Thanks. That seems reasonable. It could prevent a lost thread (in real life) of a trail of a sale when one person misrepresents something or drags out the process excessively. But back to your original concern: Would they offer this same shop to a single person of any gender who is a homeowner, or is it reserved for couples? (Inquiring minds want to know.)

I did this job a couple of months ago. All of the companies showed up exactly when they were supposed to.

The easiest way to keep the presentation from dragging on is to not engage them at all...minimal chit-chat, and don't ask any questions.

I wish I would have known that when I said I was part of a couple they would insist that my spouse attend the presentation, too-next time I won't have one :-) When the salespeople showed up I apologized and explained that he had been called away for a friend's health emergency.

I would have cancelled that shop right then and there based on the response to your question. And yes, I know who the MSC and scheduler are. I haven't done this *exact* shop, but the similar, one-contractor window estimate. I grabbed it when it was bonused.

I finally got an email back and was told I would need to reschedule. My time is worth more than this. This is on my day off. I can't have something like this drag to another day off. I am really still undecided about this whole thing.
If I am understanding correctly, 60-90 mnutes per contractor? So 3 hrs. minimum and 4.5 hours max? No way. Hanging around at home waiting precludes me from starting a task or project. Wasted day and not worth my time and yes, most do not show up.
I already had one of the three call to cancel. He said he had booked two appointments for the same time. I told him I could not change the time. This is starting to feel like a targeted apartment shop.
When the owner came the second time, it was early 8:30 AM , I opened the door and he came in, not taking his work boots off or putting something over them like most do. We go upstairs and he says, "you didn't have to get dressed"., and something else..I didn't write it in report, since he was the owner he'd see it and I didn't want trouble with him knowing I was a woman alone and where I lived. Not worth the 30.00. Lesson learned.

I have done the in-home window and handyman shops, no issues. When I was scheduling the appointments, I told them that my husband was a frequent traveler and that I didn’t need him to make a decision. Everyone showed up when they were supposed to, the only issue I had was filing the reports using GigSpot, that platform is a nightmare!!!!

First one down. He was nice. So, $1400 for a vinyl window?!? It would cost 20k for windows for a small house.

I did this shop a few months ago. Of the three companies, they all showed up on time. However, I scheduled 2 of them online (which was allowed). I got a call from one of the salespeople telling me I would have to reschedule since he does not work on the weekends. The first guy who came to the house was there for 2.5 hours before I finally asked him to go. He would not take no for an answer on buying his products. The other two were there for about an hour but I did not ask them any questions or let them try to sell me more than I wanted a quote for. Just be firm and stand your ground. The report was easy.
2.5 hours? Wow. I would ask them to leave. This first guy did not give me a written quote or any materials, just an oral quote and he showed me his ipad and a chart. I hope they take this. I planned my entire day off around this.
@Niner...They will accept report, I had neither a verbal or written quote and report was accepted.

That's good to hear. I have the next to (hopefully) coming soon.

All three came as promised. Not one gave me a written quote. I was told to have these by the scheduler. I could not force them to give me the quotes. I hope this was not a wasted day.
