County!

I was doing a bunch of phone shops yesterday. One was to inquire about a checking account where you call the main bank call center v. branch location. It was in a different state from where I live, but I had a local address in the state all set to go. Sure enough, first question to me was - which COUNTY do you live in? Not city. County.

Seriously? I played it off as we just moved to the area two days ago and I wasn't sure what the name of the county was - but really? County? Good to know for future call center shops!

When I am going to make a somewhat intricate call I usually check Realtor.com or Zillow.com for the zip code of the place I am calling and select a house 15 to 20 miles away so I can indicate I am looking for a new place 'around ABC street'. I usually throw that address in Google maps for the county and area name so that I am prepared. I make sure the house I am mentioning is for sale because at one point I was asked for the address and the person I was calling expressed surprise that the folks were selling . . . she knew them and mentioned their name.
