Luckily, In N Out was not on that list. I have spent twenty minutes in their drive thru on more than one occasion.
(For a shop. I never have eaten there on my own dime, ever.)

I have done the same. I keep wondering why people wait so long in their cars when inside it’s not busy. Can everyone be on a mystery shop too?
The last time I did a shop at IN and OUT there were 22 cars in front of me! Note to self - do not do these shops on a Friday after 7pm. Took me 24 minutes to get my burger.
Imagine how much less pollution there would be if they eliminated drive-thrus altogether. According to my sophisticated calculations, 10 cars waiting 20 minutes each all day, all over the country at all drive = boocoo exhaust fumes.
Not to mention, how much gas would be saved and therefore create less of a dependency on gas. Oh wait, the petroleum industry doesn't want to hear that. Maybe they're the real Force behind drive-thrus???
The Sonic in my city has a horrible drive thru. I waited 40 minutes doing a shop, and there were only 5 cars in front of me. I took another shop to see if it has gotten better and it has not. I won't even do those for free food anymore.
I have visited ff locations with scant (5-6 seats at a counter and no tables) interior seating. These locations provide drive-thru service.

We all drive Teslas in Southern California.
Or a Prius. I think Leo DiCaprio, Jennifer Anniston, and a couple of other celebrities drive one.

I feel very left out of that generalization!

I have to admit feel much less guilty about sitting in the drive-thru lane when I do it in electric mode. The In-N-Out near me is ironically faster when using the drive thru window, due to all the tourists in the area...
I always do the drive thru at odd hours, and it is still busy...I have also done inside and prefer that. The company is very good to their employees. and price is right for a burger nowadays with many being 13.00 or more.
I only do the shops, not on my own as there are better burgers out here, but this is acceptable and help is great inside.
