I saw that. You would need at least $18 with tax and tip. Another MSC pays enough to cover two for dinner and a small fee.

I just saw these on the job board and was wondering what they entailed. It seems like it is during lunch hours only, so perhaps $12 would be barely enough to cover the cost? Has anyone done one of these shops before/yet?
My husband corrected me. He said, "No, it's the Golden HOG trough."

I used to eat there with my parents and brother and sister growing up. I enjoyed it. However, over time, I feel their food and/or attention to detail & preparation have gone downhill.
The last time I ate there was a few years ago and I think it was $11.95 or so for lunch and $13.95 for dinner. There were flies always around the salad bar area (every time I went it felt like) and the hot foods were more like room temperature. I don't think I'd ever eat there again and didn't have interest in those shops when I saw them.

Dinner price out in my area is $11.99 with no drink, but if I show my AARP card, I might be able to get the $11.19 for the senior discount!!
Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
In my area the shop time is from 1000-0400- so that is the LUNCH cost which in my area is 11.99- and dinner is $14.49. So for me they would pay the lunch cost of max of $12.00. Doesn't even cover the cost of the meal if you include $11.99 meal and TAX and a DRINK. Kind of a cheap-skate move on their part. I'll wait and see since they pay no fee. STRATEGY: GO AT 03:50 pm SINCE THE PUT OUT THE EXPANDED DINNER MENU AT 4PM but you only paid for the LUNCH. IS THIS SHOP A DINE IN? -- OR TAKE OUT? (Once again the information available before you sign up is SKIMPY. and I think they do that on purpose.)
Do you guys tip at Golden Corral? I do, which is more added to total cost.
We debated this one time in college. Some said buffets are self-serve, so no tip. Others said the servers actually may do MORE work, b/c people eat so many plates (big, large, small plates...bowls, etc.) and have to carry so much stuff.

The hours for mine is during lunch which is $8.99, but I am not interested. Maybe if it bonuses.
Any hint? Is it a Sassie, Prophet or Shopmetrics company?

It's none of the below. They have their own reporting system and are known for simple shops that don't pay well. They are also known for deactivating shoppers for a small mistake or sometimes none at all.

It's clear if you are a shopper for them. Not clear if you are a new shopper and/or are not signed up with them, IMO. Might be clear if you are a shopper who has been deactivated by them, but that's not going to do any good!!
JASFLALMT. Thanks, got it. I check their website at least twice a day so either someone beat me to it or the location near me is not mystery shopped yet. It is a new location. I’ll just wait till Nov 11th when they will have a free meal for Veterans. they are great about doing that every year.
It is $12.00 for lunch. Free lunch for an easy task.

No to tipping at any buffets. If I do, it's a dollar or two. Another reason for the employers to just cover the gap to avoid meaningless debates on tipping courtesies.

I tip a few bucks at buffets because the servers have to buss their own tables in addition to providing fresh plates for the buffet and drink refills. They are not paid minimum wage. It's higher than the typical server's wage, but it is not the minimum wage that retail employees, fast food employees, etc. make. I don't tip 20%, of course, but a couple of bucks depending on how many in my party and how much running we make them do.
I tip 10% at buffets. Those people run their legs off and the messes they have to clean up are off the charts.
I used to do a low-end steakhouse shop where you could order a full cooked meal or get the buffet. One of the questions on the report was whether or not anyone tipped at any of the tables within my view. Seldom did anyone tip. I always left a couple bucks.
I am going to try it. Surprised no one mentioned it is a rewards type shop with a oops or success certificate to be handed out at end. So pretty much a one and done shop, at least for the same location.

That might depend on how unmemorable you are. They serve 100s of customers a week. I know that cashiers and other associates have forgotten my face at times within just a few minutes. I went to a convenience store the other day for a shop and when I walked in, the cashier smiled and greeted me, asking how my day was going. I responded politely, we had a brief exchange, and then I went to check the restroom. I saw him again about 3 minutes later when I came to the counter with my purchases, and he gave me the same canned, "Hello. How is your day going?" No flicker of recognition that we had a conversation a few minutes earlier.
You might be able to go back a few weeks later, and it is quite possible you would get a different server, though I think that this particular MSC would have a rotation on this type of shop.

I do the dinner shops for another company and bring the family. The one nearest us is 25 miles away, so no way I'd go for lunch for just the $12 reimbursement.

Did one yesterday. Easy report for my nice lunch/dinner. I arrived at 3:30 so got the full dinner menu which starts at 4. It’s a reward shop if they suggest a drink but being a senior I automatically qualified for a free drink with the senior rate. Report didn’t cover this but I gave them credit as I heard the cashier ask others in line if they wanted to add drink. They wanted a picture of me presenting the certificate and I could not diplomatically decline. So I guess my photo is posted somewhere in the back room. I should get great service if I go again, even not on a shop! Also it was $11.30 for the early bird Senior special so under $12 reimbursement.

If I were to do one, I would have to go really early for dinner. I have a thing about touching those serving spoons after a lot of other people have been touching them, and also about people breathing on the food (sneezeguard doesn't do much good when kids and short people aren't taller than the sneezeguard). But, I think I will just leave them for someone else in my area. Glad yours worked out well for you.
