Don't understand this 5 Guys shop with the milk shake

I think its because the shake is actually reimbursed seperately from the Meal. They aren't going to give you the max reimburesment for the two if the meal is under and the milkshake is over the max, etc. Of course if both are over the max, as mine always are, I do not see why I have to do that. (I know what the meal costs, so I just subtract that from the total and get the price of the shake. If I don't order the shake after and provide 2 receipts in one photo.)

I found it easier to just order the shake afterwards. The timing I report is for the main order.
Otherwise, the few seconds it takes to calculate the numbers from one receipt is not a waste of time.

The numbers don't add up if you round up. Both numbers end in a 9, so I round up. I still see no reason for this. The good thing, you only have to do this once. Just remember the numbers.

I did not know they would accept two receipt. If I do it again, I'll get two receipts.
When I go by myself, and have to order a milkshake, I do like Isiah and order the milkshake towards the end of my visit and submit two receipts. I do this mainly because I find ordering a soda and milkshake at the same time awkward. By ordering the milkshake towards the end, I can always say I'm taking it back for a coworker or my spouse and it feels more natural to me personally.

It should only take like 30 seconds to calculate what they're wanting. If the MSC's client wants it that way, then that's what they get.

30 seconds saying you know the tax rate for the particular city you've shopped and that the rate the location is charging matches. Then remembering (at least for California) the supper clear sales tax rules about cold food- hot food-to go - 80/80 rule needed to figure out which items were taxed and which weren't.@Tarantado wrote:

I do the same locations and usually order the a cheese veggie sandwich. When I do a shop with a milkshake, I look at a previous shop on my spreadsheet. I subtract the previous total from the milkshake meal total, and adjust for the never ending price increases.

No beef with math as I have ordered the cheese sandwich but Los Angeles metro is made up of scores of little cities and even unincorporated county. I can walk from my house two to three blocks west or east and encounter a whole different tax scenario. In addition to that the tax rates keep changing. It is so constantly changing that most establishments took the tax percentage off the receipts a few years ago when the new taxes that were temp started to kick in and out on a regular basis. So it would be very difficult to figure it out without a calculator and having to first figure the tax rate or the percentage of the total bill for each. Around here there is no issue with what is or is not taxed though. All prepared foods are taxed here at the same rate..hot or cold,eat in or to go it does not matter. In a grocery store it might get confusing as to what is taxed but not in a restaurant.
There is no reason for separating the bill. I will do what others have done, order the milk shake just before leaving. Put the milk shake on a separate bill, so I don't have to figure it out. There's a state tax, and local taxes. They change all the time.

Wow, this makes me so grateful for this forum! I didn't know ordering the shake later in the visit was allowed. I will totally do that now. So much more natural than ordering the drink and shake at the same time

Glad others are pointing out the option of getting the shake separate. You don't get that from looking at the report. I'll just scan both receipts at the same time.

The milkshake-making process is fast, and no timing ir required. They make the milkshake in about 30 seconds. This approach is not, however, for the mathematically challenged,

I found others on here who have a smarter way of doing this. Just get separate checks. Some on here just cannot seem to accept the fact that others have a smarter way of shopping.
To those who order the milkshake separately, do you take one picture with both receipts in the picture, or upload two separate files?
