Don't understand this 5 Guys shop with the milk shake

I had a huge and perfectly good burger and fries at Happy Hour at BJ's the other day. It is a few steps from my local 5G. BJ's price for both is $6 with a burger 3x the size and a very large order of fires. . It's no wonder I heard that 5G is losing business fast.

Wednesday all burgers and unlimited fries are $10. Monday is the best deal - all large pizzas HALF PRICE! If you go there and get a Mini it is only about $5 more to get a Large. Thursday is not bad, too where you get 1/2 rack of Baby Back ribs, 2 sides AND a Pizookie. Hard to beat that since the Pizookie is about $8 as is.

On Thursday you can get the full rack with sides and Pizookie for only a few dollars more than a half rack. The reward points add up too and can be used on a shop.
I'm doing BJ's and have never had their burger, although it is temping...I just eat too many burgers. I get their double boned Pork chop with mashed potato's and small salad and with the 10.00 off 40.00, can get a small pizooki, great meal, one of the best for a chain restaurant. I'm still going to work their burger in (on my own).
Not a lover of their pizza.

Irene they have turkey. beef and veggie burgers as a choice and the happy hour guy the other day said I could sub a salad or any of the veggie sides for the fries. I was there happy hour monday and got that $6 deal with a huge margarita, about twice the size of anywhere else for $5, Of course it did not taste exactly like a margarita as it usually doesn't at these types of restaurants but it was still good and felt like I drank 2 margaritas for that price. The burger is not as fancy as the wed deal but it is there every day and came with a healthy piece of tomato, grilled onions and jewish tasting dill pickles, the ones like Clausons, with extras if you wanted. They are so nice. They would have brought me as many of those pickles as I wanted. This was a no brainer instead of 5 G for me. I used my reward I had gotten for mystery shopping to pay for most of it.

...do you think it's a problem not having a second drink (for the second person) on the receipt? I mean, will they figure the shake is for him and not me? Probably a stupid question, because I don't think this MSC caresl as long as the required items are on the receipt, but as always, I overthink these things. Who, me? LOL.

I have more than once brought a guest along and shared the fries and sometimes the drink. So the bill shows two sandwiches but one fry and one drink. It's never been a problem: they reimburse one of each up to the agreed amount. I also often bring home 2/3 of the fries when I go alone.

The requirement is that the shopper taste or try the item sufficiently to fully and fairly evaluate the criteria required for the report, not that they consume 100% of it. Beyond that I feel an obligation to present an appearance of a couple sharing the meal in a natural fashion, not someone doing a taste test.

BJ's Brewery a terrific chain restaurant that is shopped, many forum members do it, am doing the one in my town Wednesday.

Live consciously....
I put this thread off the track with my mention of BJ's burgers but where I live burger places are proliferating like Starbucks did...one on every block. There is a lot of competition and it is only a matter of time before some of them get squashed by the place on the next block if they do not do something to stand out...like have a better product, less expensive or whatever. The few times I went to 5G I felt the price was too high for a small sandwich packed awkwardly in a paper bag and more fries than one person should eat compared to other burger places where the burgers are more substantial.

I like their food a lot, and when the fries are done right, they're delicious! But I agree the prices are getting too high. More than $5 for a small shake is crazy. If you don't want a burger or a dog (I like their hot dogs, too), you're going to go someplace else. Unless you're a vegetarian and the rest of your party insists on Five Guys, or you're a shopper trying to stay within reimbursement, who's going to go there to order a veggie sandwich? Unless you're really addicted to the fries.... I guess some people are, but as you say, you can go to BJ's and get a better value for your money plus a fantastic menu selection. I haven't eaten at 5G without it being a shop in over a year.

My father does not eat red meat. He looooooooooves going to Five Guys because I get a Grilled Cheese Sandwich for him to eat. For those who have not tried it yet please do. Very good and getting this, Little Fries and Large drink costs $12.90 here in SoCal or 15-cents more than the limit. I don't know where all stand on this but I'd rather go 15-25 cents OVER than $1.50 or more Under.
SoCalDude - I never order a large self serve fountain drink, unless it is specifically required by the mystery shop. It just seems wrong to me to give the extra profit to the location when I can refill my drink as often as I like. I realize it’s reimbursed on a shop but it still goes against my principles.

I get the Large in this case so my father can fill it with some kind of Iced Tea then bring it home and fill up a decent size squirt bottle with tea he can then take to work or wherever he wants and has something to drink that he likes

I've never had the grilled cheese; I'll have to try it. I love cheese, but I don't order it on burgers or on the 5G veggie sandwich. But a grilled cheese and tomato is sometimes heaven.

My father gets the Grilled Cheese with: Grilled Onions. Grilled Green Peppers and Pickles. And then he either gets BBQ Sauce or Ketchup to dip the sandwich in for more flavor. He loves it and that is all that I care about

I didn’t think about the take out option for a drink. That makes sense.
Grilled cheese is one of my go-to orders when I shop 5G, along with the hot dog (unless it's one of the rare locations in my area where you can order the little burger and stay within reimbursement; there's one freaking location where you can't even stay within reimbursement with the hot dog).
Hi everyone I just did a phone shop. I forgot to order the required shake and had to call back and order and pick up the shake separately. So I have two receipts about 7 minutes apart. Has anyone had the two receipts called into question?
Having two receipts is acceptable when ordering the store. Having one receiot is acceptable when ordering in the store. I suspect (but don't know) that you will be alright.

I ordered my shake after I finished my meal last night. Waited for 10 minutes for it to be done, then went up to counter and asked about it. They had forgotten to make it!

I did 5G today. The grilled cheese sandwich is now 20-cents more. What was $12.90 is now $13.11. They better realize they are pricing themselves to the point of where business will soon be affected.
I had a shop yesterday, and met a friend for lunch. I ordered the grilled cheese to stay under reimbursement. She said it was really good.

Curious: why do you get a large drink when you can get a regular with free refills?

.........because it is easier to get the bigger cup then bring home what is inside so Dad can drink it later on. But now that prices have gone up from now on he is getting the smaller cup and filling it up there so I don't go over or go over by less than the 15-cents I was OK doing before.
Sorry Dude, I saw your response about your Dad later and I edited my post.

Hi everyone
Have you ever had a Five Guys order made wrong and when you reported it, they made it wrong again? What are you supposed to do if this happens?
Thanks
