It's important to note that the requirements are not static, even by location. At our nearest location it has gone from 90-day rotation to 45-day and back, more than once over the last 3 years - seperate from waving it near the end of the month. It's also gone back and forth from a 45-min to an hour required seating time, and they used to be 6PM at the earliest for both the bar and the dining room, where as now it's 5PM for the bar and 6PM for the dining room. None of our locations ever require you to order a steak or an alcoholic drink. You have to order an entree at the dining room and an entree or appetizer, with any kind of drink, at the bar. I've also never had a bathroom check on any of mine, whether at the bar or in the dining room. And we rarely have a bonus over $5.
Similarly, Sandy Shopper said it's 8 shoppers per month, but I've never see more than 2 dining room or 2 bar shops available for the location nearest me, meanwhile they're begging for people to do one that is 2 hours away, and offering rotation waving, at the end of every single month. The location nearest me is packed pretty much every lunch or dinner shift that it's open, so maybe they don't bother having as many shops, because they never end a month with that location incomplete.
My sister loves TRH, but she's a steak eater. I like the food okay - I generally get a grilled chicken sandwich, since they took bone-in roasted chicken off the menu - but the noise and crampedness of the place mean I'd only ever eat it to-go without some incentive. And yeah, even if you keep the bill down, the required tip (not that I wouldn't) makes it near impossible for two people to eat there for under $25. But the TRH shops let me take sis out to an occasional dinner, generally with leftovers, and spend about $10 out-of-pocket. And though their customer service is exceptional, I hate when we can only get an at-the-bar shop, because at 5'3" I have to climb up into those stupid stools.
Also, our TRH is next to our theater, so we'll often do a TRH mystery shop before going to see a movie. In fact, we went a week and a half ago, to dinner and a double feature of Jay and Silent Bob.
It's one of those cases where I'm not doing it to make money so much as to save a bit.
