Being on Call for a week for $15 Assignments

So certain editors and MS companies expect shoppers to be on call for a week or so until they bother looking at the report.

I don’t like vaguely threatening messages, saying I must be ready to respond to possible questions immediately until the report has been assessed.

As shoppers have deadlines, so should editors. No addition questions after 48 hours sounds fair.

I think you're taking this a bit too seriously. I'm fairly certain they just mean "hey, pay attention to your email a time or two a day in case we have questions." I don't think they're asking you to put your life on hold with your nose in your inbox.

Yeah...and so it is. No big deal. I check my email so many times a day there's little chance I would miss anything. But, I know that I (and many of us) are not the norm. You have to know that there are thousands of shoppers who aren't like us. Hence the emails.
Oh, wow, I fit in at least one category with JAS?

And try six weeks later, to ask what you were wearing when you completed the shop and every exact timing again, etc, etc., etc.

Yup. Some of these clowns believe your life revolves around their assignments.
I check my email at least ten times a day. If you get an edit or question you usually have 12 to 24 hours to respond. If I am out working I just reply that I will let them know when I get home later tonight.
Several years ago, I received a request for additional information 41 days after I had submitted the report; to state I was surprised is putting it mildly. I quickly complied AND forever removed any consideration of accepting new car shops from that MSC.
I just received a request for clarification about a shop completed over two weeks ago. That seems about the norm. I didn't mind answering but neither of us would have had to waste our time clarifying if the question had been properly asked to begin with. I answer the questions that are actually asked not what I think the questionnaire creator meant to ask.

Requests for clarification can come anywhere from a couple of days to weeks after the shop. Always keep all your notes, receipts, collateral, etc., about a shop for at least 3 months. There are even some MSCs that require that you keep everything for six months. Recording what you were wearing is a good practice in case such situation arises. In over 15 years of shopping, I've never encountered such a challenge, but you never know... better be ready just in case.
And check your email at least twice a day every day.
