Wendy's + Coke Freestyle revealed shops

I just received the packet and info for this shop. It's one of the ones where you have to see if they upsell a combo or drink. If so, reveal yourself and give them a prize for being successful. This one in particular is looking to see if they name a specific drink from the Coke Freestyle family of options. The problem I foresee is that every Wendy's I've ever seen with one of these machines is self-serve. No one in a restaurant with a self-serve beverage station has ever asked me which particular drink I want or suggest even one. I fully expect them to not be successful because of this.

So I guess my question is, what's your experience with these? Were they successful? Are the employees trained to pitch this?

Are you sure it isn't a drive thru shop? I did this for another fast food chain, and you had to go through the drive thru then enter the restaurant to reveal yourself.
Just follow the instructions, they change with each cycle. Your success rate is going to vary but should not affect how you perform the first part of the shop.

I doubled checked the assignment guidelines. It's definitely a dine-in. I'm pretty sure I've seen drive-through assignments on the board in the recent past. Drive-through would make way more sense since they have to ask you which drink you want.

Of course I'm going to follow the instructions...
Can you structure your order such that they need to ask if you want a drink and you can ask 'What do you have?' to see if they mention the appropriate product? Obviously don't do this if they have specified how you are to order.
They pass or they fail. If somebody is trying to see if Wendy's employees are promoting a particular drink then there is more to the story.
I did 6 of these last round and none of them were successful. One of the manager that had to sign the form said that they never told them to recommend a specific Freestyle beverage. Most of the managers were not happy to get the Oops form.
It used to be they just had to offer a drink, did not have to say anything specific. Coke is the one commissioning this shop and they have been slowly making it more specific.

In the last one I performed, the manager was my cashier. On the survey form she lied and put one of the associates names. I commented on this in my report. I no longer perform these, they no longer appeal to me.

Update: I did my assignment yesterday. The cashier just happened to be three hours into his first shift as a cashier on his very first day of work. Never stood a chance. The manager was cool. She didn't seem to care about the "Oops!" card. Easy shop but awkward. I probably won't be doing any more of these unless the price goes up significantly. There's still a lot on the board in my area, so maybe they'll get bonused.

Sidenote: the reward is $20 cash in case anyone is wondering. I peaked through the small opening on the side of the envelope. Heh.
Yeah back when they were “drink or fries?” the pass rate was really high. Last year I did an airport one right before Xmas and really hoped I’d be able to hand out some surprise cash, but a required brand name suggestion was required. I asked “what do you have?” and was suggested a “bottle of water” rather than the required “Vitamin Water.”
