Wells Fargo Shops

I just noticed that a well know MSC that does a lot of gas stations and used to do a well known bank (now done by the MSC that also does "Green" gas stations), is now offering Wells Fargo bank shops.
The description of the shop seems to be the same as the old bank shops (open an account, credit card inquiry, etc). Photos were required of a business card and some materials from the bank.
I always enjoyed those old ones, while using some cockeyed name and a good back story.

I'm just wondering if anyone has done these.
Are they similar to the old bank shops?

No, they are not similar to the old bank shops. The teller shops are the easiest and quickest. All the others have redundant narrative and can be time consuming, in my experience. Some require an account opening. Some you need to be a customer, others you can not be a customer. They are more customer service oriented than the blue bank, if that's the bank you are comparing them to.

I've done three so far - checking account opening, savings account opening, and a "platform service" assignment. Spent about an hour in the bank on each because of the number of other customers. Can't do anything about that, unfortunately. The reports don't have many narrative elements, so they're not too bad.

Side note: there was a question in the report about "would you recommend this bank based on your interaction?" My first report was returned for revisions because I railed on how bad their interest rates and fees were. Apparently I'm supposed to only recommend based on service. I don't care how friendly you are. If you only pay 0.01% interest on your savings accounts, I wouldn't recommend you to my worst enemy. Good riddance. Easy fix, though, so the report was ultimately accepted.
I'm not sure which MSC's you are talking about but I've been doing Wells Fargo shops since Feb. The MSC that has teams that don't often answer emails but are great answering the phone.

The jobs has quite a few short narratives that are basically the same question asked slightly different ways. It's not a bad shop but not as easy as the Citibank jobs with the other MSC. Last month the client limited which scenario could be used. I went into a few banks saying I was getting divorced and needed to build credit because I had none in my own name. I'm no spring chicken and it made for some interesting interactions. I doubt I'll be able to shop those places for quite a while as I / my narrative struck a chord with the bankers.
The credit card inquiry shops are very simple. I didn't recommend them either because of the annual fee and the APR. I haven't heard anything back yet.

I did four of the credit card shops. During the first one, the banker told me I could not get a credit card unless I opened a checking account first--the reason WF is MS'd to begin with. The editor has been really picky with my responses. The other three went thru with no problem and were quite easy.
In my email today -- Chase offering $600 when you open a checking and savings account together. It can be online. Takes 15 minutes and you can be wearing jammies. The WF does not pay nearly enough.

One of my reports was kicked back because I did not recommend the card. I had to redo the entire thing.

I have been doing Wells Fargo shops for years. They expect a fair bit of narrative on why you would recommend or not recommend the products and bank based on the interaction. They will kick it back if it not enough.
I've done two account-opening shops, one or two "lost debit card" shops, and one teller shop. All are pretty run-of-the-mill bank shops, and the account-opening ones are easier than the Woodforest ones. I wish they had more teller shops in my area because I find those easier than the teller shops I do for my credit union accounts.

The only one I won't do is the one where you have to say that a closed WF account in your name wasn't authorized to be opened in the first place. They've changed that a little; I think you used to be able to use a current, open account and say it hadn't been authorized by you.

I want to close my WF account, so I'm waiting for an account-closing shop to come up!

I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
The bonuses come after you qualify for them. I qualified for the checking bonus by having a direct deposit (can't remember the required monthly minimum). the saving account bonus requires a substantial balance in the account within 3 (?) months. I decided it wasn't worth it due to low interest rates.

Teller shops are easy. The "replace my debit card shops" are easy and are limited to once a quarter. My two most recent credit card inquiry shops required either a "new to credit" or a "rebuilding my credit" scenario for a non-customer. Since I am youth-challenged, I could not plausibly be new to credit. So, I explained to each banker that I learned that the financial gurus were correct, that the single greatest destroyer of wealth is divorce. Lots of sympathy and empathy ensued. So, I need to rebuild my credit since I have a credit score in the mid-500s. The only option was a secured credit card. Easy write-up when it goes in that direction (which it had to).

Might be a different offer. Mine is a direct deposit of at least $25/mo, and a daily balance in savings of $300.

I like your offer much better!
