Yes, pretty hard to consider ourselves "Team Members" when we can be discarded as easily as a used tissue.

I just find the "sales tactics" annoying, because that's all it really is.

How can I be on a team when I don't know any of the other players? Hell, I've even never met the coach.
In the consulting world, we are all paid contractors by the client. We are not employees of theirs and neither are the environmental group, Right-of-Way/Legal team, survey, etc.; however, I often use the word “team” a lot when referring to all players in the project. Should I learn to stop using that word?

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 29 year old male and willing to travel! Badged for Denver International Airport.
I feel you were being friendly and not sarcastic, however, we are Independent Contractors and work alone. We are here to share experiences, so welcome, but, we are not a team, although that would be nice.

In that sense you are a team. In the MS world though? No. Especially since it is almost always used as a sales tactic. You never see emails that say "hi team, we love working with you so much we are sending you a $25 gift card." It's always "hi team we have shops that need to be done by Saturday who can do them?" It's done to promote the thought of "I am available to do this and should help the team out by doing it." It's specific wording meaning to promote a particular feeling among people who are susceptible to such tactics. It's why car salesmen always ask if you can see yourself driving the car or why apartment leasing agents ask if you can see your furniture fitting. It's manipulative and I find it horribly annoying.
