New Shops in My Area smiling smiley

Five Guys is going to be opening up about a mile from my house in a couple weeks. I've never, ever eaten there, but this group of people really seems to rave about them, so I can't wait to try the place out! (and to get shops there)

Also have a JITB that opened right across the street from where the 5G is going to be. Most of you say to stay clear or to give the food away, so I'm afraid to try it. However, their line is long, long, long! It's been open for a couple weeks and the line still snakes around the building! My room mate got some JITB and his food was wrong...received wrong items and didn't receive what he was supposed to; and his chicken nuggets had been "peeled" or "shredded..." ugh. Seems gross enough and weird enough that I would never want to eat there...like someone messed with his food! Despite that, my husb and our son went there on a "special day" and rant and rave about how good it is :eye roll:

JITB is *really* good if you have a hangover.

We rave about 5Guys because of the bonuses. I get their BLTs and Cheese Veggie bowls frequently. I get a burger about once a month.

I have come to the conclusion that 5G is really a matter of personal taste. When their fries are done 'correctly' as wanted by the franchise, I don't like them but my significant other does. The MSC used to not complain when I ordered them 'extra crispy', but then decided I could not order them that way. I certainly like them better 'extra crispy', but my SO does not. I usually get the little cheeseburger with grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. That my SO and I can agree is a pretty spectacular burger, though I like mine with mayo, lettuce and tomato as well.

Yes, the bonuses are good and I will take bonused location to take along my SO. I generally will not go there on my own dime because there are sit down with service burger opportunities nearby that offer good burgers at the same kind of pricing or less.

I have done both, JITB fee's get higher as the month goes by, so I do them towards the end of the month for $14 or 15.00, and since I get a burger combo for 5.00 plus some cents, its worth it, not the best, I take the top piece of bread off, and eat about half the burger, fries are always good. Five guys I did once and was surprised at how good a burger it is, but reimbursement doesn't cover out here....the job goes quickly here. ...since it is in our mall, easy to do.

Not that I'm complaining, but I'm surprised that the schedulers give such high bonuses when shoppers will take them at base pay.

The 'go getters' at base price I figure get themselves excluded by rotation, identification or unacceptable reports/flakes. Most of the bonuses I see are somewhat short notice when the schedulers can no longer mess around with getting the shop done reliably. That is why I may see a small bonus on the board but the phone call gives me the bonus I want.
Good point Flash! The highly bonused shops that I get called about are last minute, so some base pay shoppers probably flaked.

Giving away the food is no longer necessary now that JIB added chicken to the allowable purchases.
Where is MFJohnston? He's the subject matter expert on JITB. He did like 90 shops in the course of a week.

Didn't his wife or someone have health problems? Or am I thinking of another forum member? Hope everything is OK.

I was thinking that the quantities of food did him in...

Have you tried to PM him?

Yes. His wife had an undisclosed illness. I PMed him several months ago and he didn't reply. And last time i looked the PM showed he hadn't read it, which means it's likely something is terribly wrong. In the past he usually responded within a few days.

*update*

He posted. He is very busy. Apparently, there is the wonderful but difficult choice: to hang out with beloved granddaughter versus hiking [finally and at last post injury] in beloved mountains.

Note well that I never suggested adding a baby sling and bringing beloved granddaughter to the beloved mountains..
