Postal Shop New Requirement

This is just a heads up for anyone doing postal shops and didn't see the email. The no shopping the first or last 30 min the location is open is mandatory starting 1/6. Check location hours carefully since they vary.

I thought it was always mandatory. And I did not get an email. Maybe these are postal shops for a different msc? I did see some listed for one of my other msc, not the one who does thousands of them.
I got that same email this morning. In the past 2-3 years, it was "preferred" but it is now mandatory again.
I think when I first started doing these, when the other MSC was contracted to do them, this was mandatory.

I learn something new every day, but not everyday!
I've learned to never trust spell-check or my phone's auto-fill feature.
That leaves a very narrow window on Saturdays at VERY rural PO I hit pretty often. It is only open from 8 AM to 10 AM. sad smiley It kinda screws up that route since the first PO on that route opens at 8:30 and I make two other stops before the rural at one. Dang.

Yes, the impact on rural routes is very real. Especially since they often close earlier -- and if I drive a few miles east, I'm in a different time zone, which penalizes me an hour.

I learned the hard way NOT to do the shops returning west. I will never, ever forget the two post offices I happened to visit exactly 1 hour apart -- but one was in the later timezone, and one was in my home time zone.

I had a really, really difficult time convincing the MSC I was not turning in two reports stating I was in two different places at exactly the same time!!!!
Interesting... I didn’t get an email regarding this and have shops due this week. I’m not planning on doing them until Saturday so I’m happy you guys mentioned it because sometimes due to my route I go in the first or last 30 minutes...
With that MSC? I wouldn't count on that.

Thanks for letting me know!

OOPS! Better take the MSC out of your post :-)

Drove to Erie PA today and had to drive back in rush hour traffic, LOL. My brain is fried, apparently.
I have not received any e-mails about this.. I have sign up for the ones in my area but they have not assigned me yet.

I usually do my around lunch time
I didn't get an email but I saw it in a special note on the top of the form when you enter the shop report...at least on the app..

There's another new requirement as well; shops must be submitted within 8 hours of leaving the location. Also, you are required to rename all attachments to their specs.

Shopping Arkansas, Louisiana, & Mississippi.
I've named my photos the same as always and shops have been approved.

Good grief. How do you "name" a photo? I always just load it in the right space; the space is already named. ("Download photo of pkg HERE". )
I hear ya. It's more of a hassle for those of us who use apps to do our shops since we have the app open when we take the pic.
Most times I use the app, but sometimes I take a photo with my camera and upload it to my computer and enter from there. I name the file with location and date and label the photos "receipt"..."flag"..."package." I guess I don't name them when using the app. I just upload them from my camera roll.

Gonna have to re-read the guidelines to see what is actually being asked.

I can rename the files, no problem. But it will slow me down, which means I will want more money for each one. So as long as they have more money available we're good to go.

Could someone give an example of what the photo name should look like? I get the date and city but am confused what is the task name. Also how do you not end up with files labeled the same if you do multiple jobs in the same city which the computer won't allow Task name_Timbuktu_200114_jpg (unless the task name is the job #. But then the photo of package and receipt for each job would have the same label so that still doesn't work. Maybe they really want job name_photo discription_city name_date_ type of attachment, but that isn't what they asked for)
I do the following... Type_Zip_Date_pix

Examples

Reg_77445_011420_POreceipt HZMT_77445_011520_package
No. In my area this is only one post office per zip code.

Edited to add: if that changes I’ll probably use the station name instead.

I have never seen two Post Offices in the same city with the same ZIP Codes on the Post Office receipts.
There are two cities (really villages) right next to each other near where I live and they each have a post office, both of which have the same zipcode. Very weird. They both used to get shopped and I always had to double check addresses before shopping them. Now only the larger of the two gets shopped.

There a couple near me like this, and both are shopped in both cases.
Ever notice some offices have NEVER been shopped? I wonder why it's always the same ones.
