Company assigns me jobs without my knowledge.

I received an email today stating that this was my second notice,"Your shops are late!" " if I did not respond they would pull my eyelashes out, [ or something like that] :] At first I thought that I had applied for these shops. I spent a considerable amount of time checking all of my emails for this company, finding that I had not applied for these and had never received an email confirmation for them, [of course].
I feel very much pressured into taking these, even though they are 2 hours RT, and I was not prepared for these in my schedule. I am also angry. This scheduler can just give me bad scores for unjust reasons and bully me into taking jobs?
What recourse do shoppers have?
This company's management seems very hidden, making it hard to contact.

Maybe she accidentally assigned them to the wrong shopper - I have had that happen before where they accidentally assigned me a shop that was thousands of miles away.
Whatever the MSC, call them. There should be a phone number in the e-mail or on the website.

Do keep us posted!

You should be able to simply email the scheduler and let him/her know about the error: It's an easy fix. It is not uncommon for shops to be assigned to the wrong shopper accidentally. Schedulers are human, too. tongue sticking out smiley

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
Or you can just burn that bridge and return a belligerent email and get dropped. I was asked today why a companies exterior sign did not match what they were listed as. I sent an email explaining what DBA meant.
a.) could be accidental

b.) could be some sohrt of shady pressure tactic

I've had a MSC owner give me an unsolicited shop before. When these things have happened to me in the past, I've politely declined.

I still wanted to work their shops, so I didn't make a big deal out of it. And, I wasn't 100% sure the "recommended shops" weren't genuinely in good nature. *sigh*

Okay....I seriously think they weren't, but even if there's a small .00000000000000001% chance they were genuinely intended to be helpful to me, then I'd not want to accuse the person of pressuring me to take a shop.
I doubt it was accidental. She probably couldn't get someone to take them, you'd done them before, so she assigned them figuring you'd not want to burn the bridge. Shady, but sometimes they're not thinking long-term. I would write a polite note letting her know that you had not applied and she perhaps assigned them to the wrong person (we all know she didn't). Then let her know that they are a considerable distance and you could help her out by doing them for $[x]. That way, you haven't accused her, you're giving her an out to save face, and she can still assign them to you at a more reasonable amount.

If she unassigns them and gives you a flake '1', you know she did it on purpose and is trying to cover her rear. If that happens, please name her here.

Yes I'm not the kind to jump to conclusions, and don't like to burn bridges. They have the upper hand.
This is a new scheduler, I believe. I have never seen his name before.

When these situations have happened to me, I've worried that my declining the shops would lead to less shops or me in teh future. That wasn't the case, thankfully.

But, that could be a sign of intentoinal shop planting and retaliation of sorts. Don't want to scare, OP, but just saying. Hopefully, it'll all work out, though, and no decrease in shops. smiling smiley
I did just sign up for an MSC that I had to opt out of "automatically be assigned shops in your area" or some such. It may be that little tidbit scooted by you on the sign up process or got clicked somehow. I'd check to make sure there isn't a setting for that in this particular MSC as well. I don't remember which one it was that I saw it in, but I'm sure there's more than one MSC that does it.
There is one scheduler out there that is infamous for this. I had that problem with her month after month. The MSC is based in Florida, and I can say from personal experience, they don't seem to want to deal with shoppers.

BTW, I have it in writing my asking her not to keep doing it and her response that she just knows I want certain shops so she assigned them to me without asking. In some instances, these shops would have involved a 600-mile round trip.
At least you didn't have to cross an ocean?? Um....

For one client, one merchandising company automatically reassigns locations to the merchandiser when it is time for the next visits. They provide plenty of notice and reminders that we are free to cancel any location (with as much notice as possible) if our situation has changed since the last visit.

LOL

I sometimes have a scheduler give me LESS in an assignment than verbally agreed upon earlier. It could be an honest mistake, but it's always a TINY bit less and I wonder in my cynical states if they do this thinking I'd not ask for the extra .25 cents or $1.00 and look cheap.

....and...I don't... tongue sticking out smiley (precisely because it's such a small amount and don't want to look cheap and be bothered by ite iher)

On the other hand, no scheduler has ever given me MORE on accident.

I thought that this happened to me once, but it didn't. I did not realize that (with one MSC anyway) at the end of the debrief if you answer yes to "would you shop this location again" that they automatically assign that location to you when the rotation rules allow it again. As a matter of fact, I am insanely busy this week because I had already booked my week full and then they dropped 5 hours worth of shops on me that are an hour away. Luckily I am able to work them in and am grateful for the work, but I thought maybe this is what happened to you to.
I would bring it to their attention the first time and ask them to unassign the shop. If it happened again, I would likely not do any more shops for them.
