Are Westin hotels shopped?

I see (and have done) shops for restaurants within Westins but never for the hotel itself.

Some are, many aren't. It's all dependent on the property management companies. Typically MSC's are hired by the management company and not the brand itself.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
Actually...the brand used to be shopped before the merger with Marriott. I haven't seen any corporate brand shopping since the merger for any of those hotels, though.
I have seen some shopped recently. I have a strong impression that the client was the franchisee, who has quite a few hotels in the expanded Marriott family of hotels.

I think the brand is again being shopped by the big auditing company that uses full time shoppers and you have to have a degree in hospitality management to be hired by.

Edited to add:
It's my understanding they have most of the big chains and many of the shops you see for individual locations and franchisees are secondary or to get a gauge on where they are in preparation for them. That's why you saw a bunch of Sonesta shops show up on about 4 different job boards a few months ago.

Good ol' Marriott. As much as I do like the Marriott chain, it'd be nice if they at least built lounges for the acquired SPG brands as an alternative for devaluing the hell out of their rewards system.

Wsir, are you serious about the full-time shoppers and hospitality degree? I have no clue which company that is.

It's not an MSC, it's one of the Big Four.

That is correct. It is NOT an MSC. They do "brand standards" inspections of hotels. Each survey can contain many hundreds hundreds of detailed questions. Swabs of surfaces, hard and soft, may be required. EXACT adherence to hundreds of brand standard are observed. So, there might be five questions dealing just with the hair or shoes and stockings of an associate, for each associate. I am not kidding.

I see, thanks for the info. My degree is not at all related to the hospitality industry so those shops are not in my future.sad smiley

Interesting. I'll have to remember to talk to the consultant I work with from there about it next time I see him.
