Things I Never Considered.

Often, when doing a shop, a receipt is requested and has to be copied as proof of the shop. I never thought about this until now: has anyone provided the receipt with their Debit or charge card number blacked out? It would seem to me that it would be the prudent thing to do in order to prevent card fraud, etc.

When I perform a shop, I've noticed that after doing the "reveal" portion of the shop, the attendant or employee has a change in their demeanor. Most of the time, they are even more polite. But there are the instances where I have been treated either dismissively or with utter contemp. Some, to the point of being shouted at or treated as an underling. I've not reported this change as it seems I would be no longer their customer but as another worker. I'm wondering after the last instance of the guy behind the counter being such a complete jerk that I should just report their behavior.

I've performed some shops (gas stations usually) where upon returning to my car, I have found a hot cup of coffee. I wonder, should I report that? It doesn't change my rating or findings of the shop, but it seems to me to be a "bribe"?

Not a bribe. Thoughtful and considerate, I'd say!

If employees are helpful and courteous (before AND after the reveal), I always put it in the comments.

Only once have I ever reported an employee's rudeness -- but her rudeness was so far beyond the pale that it would run customers screaming away from the gas station! It was a straight MS, and I SO wanted to tell her I was MSing her, but managed to control myself. A virago. A Medusa! A woman who should never, ever be allowed to interact with customers!

LOL!!!

I cant' speak for other MSCs, but if a shopper doesn't black out this information before they submit their report, we black it out for them.

At one of my fast food shops, the employee (without knowing I was the mystery shopper) gave me an extra free shake... not sure if it factored in, but their score was a few points higher... smiling smiley
All of the banking shops that I have done, way over 2000. I have always blacked out my ID or account numbers.
The receipt should not have your full card number. Only the last 4 digits are supposed to be printed on the receipt. I'm pretty sure that's a legal requirement.

Yeah, you would think that in this day and age I have even pointed this out to merchants before and it's like ahh what the heck.
