My husband's training was canceled so he isn't flying out Sunday, YAY!

Our governor has a ban on gatherings of more than 100 people, so that takes care of my MIL going to church. She can read her bible and pray at home!
Elective surgeries where my husband works are being cancelled, so he may be shorted some work days. The governor just closed all K-12 schools for the next six weeks, so the kids are going to be home with me 24-7. Got word earlier today that a few grocery store shops are postponed indefinitely, and my merchandising projects are canceled for the time being. The new normal sucks!
I have a friend who is an immigrant from Iran. She left an abusive relationship with (their) daughter. Fled to USA. Since she was unmarried and not a virgin, her family shamed her and stopped contacting her for several years (they "came around" a bit recently)

This friend of mine went to the university and became a nurse. In a foreign country; alone... Then she moved to Denver.

I contacted her to ask about her, her daughter, her family in Iran.

She told me she's "case #3 in Colorado" and is in the hospital :'(
I know I am in the minority on this but the virus hasn't changed my life at all, except for using hand cleanser after each shop. My hands are much more sanitary than in the past. Turn on the TV and what do you see? - corona virus. Turn on the radio and what do you hear? - corona virus. Talk to your neighbors and what do you hear? - corona virus. Go to the stores and they are of of toilet paper, $.88 pasta (Ronzoni), hand cleanser and most canned goods. Toilet paper! Really? I'm sorry but I consider this as a contrived state of panic and totally overblown and politicized. Take some basic precautions and this too will pass. I know I'll probably get a lot of blow back on this, but it is the way I feel.
I have had 5 of my merchandising jobs for the week of March 16 cancelled until further notice. These were regular weekly jobs. So far none of my ms'ing jobs have been cancelled.

I agree with you 100%.
I went to the store today to buy TP as I was almost out and they had 1 package on the shelf. Bottled water store out. And I live in one of the few states that hasn't had any reports of people with the virus yet. I don't go into panic buying mode, every time a new virus comes along. I just do my normal shopping.
On the news yesterday they were talking to a woman and she said "what is it with people and TP and bottled water". She said we are not going to run out of water, after all you can get it out of your water faucet and as far as she knew the virus wasn't coming from our tap water.
I have a brother that lives in Central California. heard from him last night. He said he went to the store in the morning to buy milk, the store was completely out. He said now apparently people are adding milk to their panic shopping list.
I went to the grocery store after Superstorm Sandy to buy wine since I was almost out. The TP shelves were empty. The bread shelves only had white bread available. Wine was good.

I complete hundreds of shopping assignments each month in Colorado and have unfortunately canceled everything for the next two weeks. Public schools, colleges, private schools, universities, all sporting events, large gatherings over 250, parades, no athletic practices, and more closings being announced by the hour across the state. It is a real crisis. I wish all of you good health.

Glad to see you have your priorities right HonnyBrown
I bought pasta (San Giorno) several weeks ago when it was on sale for .50 cents a box. I probably have 8-10 boxes in my pantry, but my husband is Italian and we eat a lot of pasta. I have 6 large packs of toilet paper in my hall closet because I bought a whole bunch when it was on sale a few months back (plus I had coupons). I bought a bunch of hand sanitizer several weeks ago because I generally stock up on it 3-4 times a year, plus I wanted a bottle on every table for my stepdaughter's party last weekend. I've been doing that for years. I keep a bottle of sanitizer in my purse and one in my car, just like I have been doing for years. Nothing much has changed, really.

We're off from school Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of next week. We went to a restaurant and people were by law spaced apart. Restaurants and bars can only have 50% capacity in NY.
I went to Trader Joe's today, and for the first time, I saw at least 30 people in line. The door is closed, waiting for some shoppers to leave, before they would admit more shoppers. That is disturbing. What are people all alarmed about? That we'll run out of food in groceries? Perhaps they have been listening to too much hyped anti Trump fake news. When H1N1 striked back in 2009, Obama did nothing for a long time. 12,600 people died, and the media did not blame Obama for doing nothing fast. Now, it seems they would jump at anything to blame Trump and his admin. no matter how his ban on travel from China 3 weeks when the outbreak started saved us from a large epidemic. But what did the media do at that time? Dems and the fake media called him a racist for blocking travel from infected countries. Seriously/
It's pretty much an unwritten rule that we dont talk politics in the forum. It never leads to anything good. Last time we had a discussion about the idiot-in-chief it spiraled into a disaster and the mods closed it down.
But I know you don't like to follow rules, it was just a few months ago you were PMing me begging to know which MSC shopped acertain client, and when I refused and told you it was against forum rules and an IC violation, you tried to argue with me about it. SMH.
HAHAHAHA awwww, did I hurt your "feeling"? You know, that one singular feeling you possess? Please.

Yes, Colorado is getting crazy.

My son works at the hospital. He's 18 and delivers food trays. He said that they are locking and staffing the doors because people are putting on hoodies and masks and hats....running in, grabbing gloves/masks/sanitizer/meds/whatever real quick and then running back out

He also said that a good number of the staff is declining to show up for work...from cafeteria to janitorial to nurses and CNA's

My 17 yo dau works at King Soopers. A week ago a guy came up to her and asked if they had hand sanitizer. She said they were out and he leaned in, coughed in her face, and said, "Don't worry; I'm not sick," as he walked away laughing and coughing. She and I reported this the next day and the manager said that it wasn't assault or intimidation or threatening or violent and that I was in the wrong for going with her to report it.

Today she was at work....everyone who is willing to work is working 10 and 12 hour shifts...and she said that the shelves were basically empty by noon. This is a HUGE store. They are thinking of closing the store down completely and just having the "click list" function....all employees will either do "click list" or will be scrubbing the store from top to bottom.

My husb is a state trooper and they were told to be "visible," but to "only stop egregious matters"
Yes. To some people, anyway. And your point was?

You just shouldn't have jumped on the bandwagon, but we can roll this baby down the rabbit hole if you feel so inclined.
That is just awful. He was sick in the head.

Just doing my regular handwashing, etc. And stocked up with my regular stock of TP.
Did check how much wine and coffee was on hand, and cat food.

But, my life will change if schools close. I am a substitute teacher.

Every time my area has a winter weather forecast people head to the grocery store for milk, eggs, and bread.

My point was that after you admonished ShopperFun for talking politics you accelerated it by expressing your anti-Trump feelings. Kind of hypocritical wouldn't you say? And no it would take more than you to hurt my feelings.
Why of course it was hypocritical, Captain Obvious! That was the whole point. Open up a can of worms and see where it gets you. I promise it can be fun but would probably be very annoying to the rest of the forum. So why keep it going?
It was just a matter of time before the thread went down the toilet... but at least some people have TP.

Now, seriously. We are well prepared and can withstand 14-day self-quarantines. In a perfect world, we will not need that and can use up our supplies throughout the year. In COVID-19 world...
