Contactless payment shops

$5 fee. Gazillion photos. Must take a photo of the terminal with the welcome and the 2nd screen of the payment options. How does one do this without arousing suspicion of the clerk?

I just hold my phone there and record, and try to look like that's just how I am holding my phone while I pay. I found them incredibly simple.
I've never done these type of shops (or even read the guidelines) but I'm wondering if it is important that the cashier not know what you are doing. I can understand if it is at a store that you do a grocery mystery shop, for example, you wouldn't want employees knowing that you are a mystery shopper. But isn't the credit card processing company the one that is wanting the info about the terminal? If the cashier sees you taking pictures of the terminal s/he might think it is odd or might think you are a mystery shopper but does it matter? After all, you aren't 'shopping' the cashier, you are 'shopping' the credit card processing.

I know shoppers aren't supposed to be blatant about it but wouldn't it be okay to just take the pics, act like it's normal, and continue with the transaction? Or is my thinking way off? I've been reading this forum for months and I'm still trying to figure things out!!

By the way, thanks to everyone who has posted because I've learned a lot!
They aren’t hard to do if you’re good with your phone. I have to remember which fingers will open my phone with fingerprints versus double tapping to use the Apple Pay. The biggest problem is the low fee.
They aren't hard in a grocery store until you end up with a shopper in front of you who does not move. Then you miss the chance to get photos of the payment terminal before the transaction begins. In fact, I could not move up until it was literally time to pay. No, an explanation didn't help. I was told that I should have just changned my mind, and gone back again. Really?

Hindsight is 20/20, but I would have done a second transaction and bought gum or waited until it went back to the home screen and taken a photo before the next person moved up.

And, that sucks as well for you. sad smiley
Only five pictures are needed for the shop: exterior, exterior labeing, the checkout lane and two terminal pictures. That's hardly a gazillion.

Speaking contactless payments, Targeted Chase cards have a $5 (or its points equivalent) for 3 x $1.75 minimum spent using contact less at the POS system... I believe good from now until 2/3. Might as well grab that $5 tax-free bonus!

Thanks Tarantado!

BB&T offers 5% cash back at Five Guys as well. This is with their debit card.

5-6 pictures, correct. Or a video of the terminal as items are being rung up. The photos must be of the store front, the checkout area, and each terminal prompt, this last one is the one I question about staring and photographing these screens while the clerk observes it. All of this is looking for logos and prompts. pay:$5 reimbursement, but no fee in addition. sad smiley
There is a $5 fee in addition to the reimbursement. It gets bonused later in the month.

Oh, I missed that fee, it blurred in with the reimbursement. Sorry. There is also a certification you must pass.
I guess it just seems like a lot of hoops to jump through for $5
I like the shops because there are no purchase requirements.

Since I'm paying with my phone (Google Pay) I just hold my phone taking pictures making it seem I'm prepping for Google Pay, then pay, then switch back to camera for final terminal pictures. It's pretty easy to do.
I've done these and took a friend and make it seem like I am showing her to use the tap and pay, never had anyone question it yet.
Wait until the beginning of March.

Did you see any listed this month? I get my 10 shops every month but, did not see them listed for February.
I saw at least 20, but not within 15 miles of my house. They were all between 16-30 miles away. So it depends on what they need done.
