What would you do? Accepted a lunch shop, but got assigned dinner shop.

I'm supposed to leave in an hour to complete a lunch shop (yes, a heavily bonused, past due JANUARY shop they couldn't get filled). But when I went to my shopper log to print off the required paperwork, it's showing as a dinner shop.

I cannot do dinner. It would mean driving the entire distance after dark, which I cannot do.

Scheduler says on HER end, it says lunch, for me to go ahead and do lunch.

I need the shop log changed to show that.

Right?

I cannot afford to be out of pocket for 200 miles of gas and the meal purchase, should my shop be rejected because I was supposed to do a dinner shop, but actually completed a lunch.

What would you do? I'm sorely tempted to cancel.

Do you have the scheduler’s go-ahead in writing? If so, you SHOULD be fine. If not, ask that she send an email confirming you are good to do lunch.

Is this an MSC you trust or that is known to back up its verbal promises, even if made in error?

I've never had this happen, so I don't know if I can trust them. But they have been fair in all other dealings.

I'm really worried, because I am scheduled for today for a February shop which actually IS a lunch shop, and I am worried because she may be seeing that shop and assuming that's the one I'm talking about. Same company, same client, different location.

Her e-mail is not specific enough -- I do have an e-mail that says "You are scheduled for a lunch shop", but does NOT reference the location, or whether it's the January shop that's urgent, or the February shop, which is NOT urgent.
Email her back and state that you are in fact confirming that (list shop number, client, location, date) is a lunch shop, despite your instructions stating otherwise. If she confirms, no matter how vague, you should be good. For good measure, you could apologize for the redundancy of your messages and express that you cannot afford to be out the cash if there is a miscommmnication.

If I was in your position, if it's documented via email and she stated lunch, then I'd respond confirming the the discrepancy:

"Thank you for the clarification, Scheduler. I wanted to double check, mainly because the shop in my log currently shows it as a dinner shop."

Then go from there.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
I have done this 6 times already. Her reply is too vague, considering that I actually DO have one shop that is correctly assigned as a lunch shop. I am precise in my e-mails. Her e-mails are not precise. "You're assigned a lunch shop" doesn't do it!

Sorry. Just getting a little anxious. If I'm to make it to the two lunch shops, I must leave.

BTW, I have not yet confirmed either shop. I told her clearly I would NOT confirm until it was corrected.

Good move waiting to confirm.

Update: I got the go ahead in a text message. When I got home, the assignment was correct on the shop log.

But since it was a past-due January shop, I had a lot of trouble with the report -- because they put the February ordering requirements/questions on the report!!!

I hate it when this happens. I always feel like I'm lying, or falsifying the report. All I could do was put every place possible "This was a January shop. I could NOT order XXXX item."

I'm glad it worked out for you!

Update: Every other shopper doing the January shops in February had the same issue.
