Need a little help with WIN10 and photos

Why even bother to transfer? I haven't transferred photos with a cord, ever.

Open up the website on your phone. Open the report. Upload photos only. Hit save for later. Finish the report on the desktop.

Anything that's in a bar code can be grabbed as is without typing it. For the sake of simplicity I won't go into how, as that's a longer discussion and requires knowing some details like which device is to be used. But the short answer is that the contents of a bar code can be put into a computer or phone without typing.

If you truly have all that data and more in a bar code for your FF shops then you could potentially read that barcode with an app, then cut and paste the elements into your report. More trouble than it's worth for short words that our brains can remember / understand, but for long sequences of numbers it's worthwhile. Humans struggle to keep fine details of long sequences...a likely source of the typos. If it's not a word or identifiable language element, our brains don't catch every digit...but every digit is important.

You can transfer your pictures wirelessly using Bluetooth.

Your phone indeed has a "cord". I personally use an Android but I have friends with iPhones. Both types have a port used for charging and for data connections. Plug one end of the cord into the phone and the other end into the computer's USB port. Androids need either a USB-B or a USB-C connector at the other end. iPhones need a Firewire connection at the other end. Use the cable to connect the phone to the computer. Same as connecting a digital camera. Since I have an Android, I can't with certainty tell you where to look on your iPhone for the photos, but Google could. I look for the phone, then DCIM, then Photos. I actually think that it is the same for an iPhone, but I will let the experts address that.

For instance, I have a cord I use to plug my camera into my computer; into a USB port, I think (not sure). That's how I transfer photos.

The phone doesn't have such a cord.

Also you can search for youtube tutorials. There are tutorials for absolutely everything.

The Safari browser hasn’t changed since the iPhone 4. Same icon on the home page.

And I never managed to get Safari to function on my iPhone4 or 5, either. Sure, the icon is there -- but when I click on it, it just sits there....if it were a cat, I would say it was laughing at me.

Same thing with YouTube. It won't open on my phone. Which I truly don't understand, because I used it all the time on my old phone.

I can't find Google. Firefox, too, sits and laughs at me. The icon is there, but it does NOTHING. Google doesn't even have an icon.

I'm sure it will all come together eventually. I just keep plugging away at it............

You should schedule a route in a big city and go to a class at the Apple Store.

LOL!!! Nearest one I can find is either Denver or Omaha. Several hundred miles away!

Great idea, though, for people who live close to one.

The Verizon store nearest me used to give free lessons -- but they closed.

But maybe I can call the one where I took this latest phone to get it set up, and ask if they offer any classes, and see if I can schedule.

I am not sure if Google is loaded on your phone, then. The icon would be easily recognizable.
In which case you would have to go to iTunes to download it, I guess (I have Android so my app is called Playstore). I don't know, but I would guess it's a free app.

If you are clicking on icons and they don't open, there is something wrong with the phone or with the app. I have never, never, never ever heard of anyone else who has had that problem with their phones.

Haha! I'm glad you are keeping your sense of humor. Just remember - you wrapped your brain around tax laws and came out triumphantly. Phones are not as complicated. Keep at it. You will get it.

You can walk into any retail establishment (even in bfe) and literally 75% or more of the people there can show you how to find safari in less than ten seconds.

If you click on an icon on your smartphone (ha, your new phone especially) and it doesn't open, there is something wrong.

For some reason I run into this issue on occasion doing Maritz reports from my laptop (although, now that I use the app I don't have to worry about it that much). Maritz also told me, several years ago, that their app "flipped the pictures" from the Yellow Stations so I had to take the sideways, I haven't received any feedback that the Blue Stations are doing that, however. What I do is to download any pictures into Paint, open them up, hit save, and then they no longer "flip". Also, once you work with the Apple Store / YouTube / your nearest High School student, ask how to have your pictures save to the Cloud. You should be able to then download them to your computer at home if the cable attached to the computer solution doesn't work.

Another idea would be to contact your local High School and find out if any of their service club members (NHS, Key Club, etc) need service hours. If so, you might find a student who could work with you to answer all of your questions and get their hours as well.

Oh, interesting. I have never used the Maritz app. But, I don't do many shops for them.

The Maritz app is crazy easy. It has, for the blue shops, cut my on-site time down by 5-10 minutes, no reporting at home (so a net gain of 20 minutes each location), and I never have to return for missed pictures. The only thing I have to do at home now is to submit the invoice. Although, with the change in ownership, if they put the yellow and blue stations on Presto, I might not be doing many for them in the future. (the app also saves the pictures in a folder to my phone so I can always download them if there are any glitches, and I can then delete the pictures as a group once I get paid).

Your iPhone 6 has BlueTooth, whether you know it or not. It is likely that your computer does as well.

Good grief. If I need something to complete my work, I'll ask for help (and get it from so many helpful forum members!); if I don't need it, I'm not going to waste time with it.

Right now I am just struggling to successfully learn the things I need to do shops and complete reports.

I do know the gal that drives me around doesn't have Bluetooth, either in her car or at home.

I have yet to run into a shop that says "Bluetooth required".

It's bad enough when they say "App required".

You might be right. I wish that I were a certified instructor in iphones. Is there anyone like this on the planet? If they exist, they might be summoned and teach you more than we have done so far.

(We live where we live which means spotty connectivity. Bluetooth can help with this issue by eliminating the need to go online. This might be why someone suggested Bluetooth. I suppose the button to turn it on or off is somewhere in the settings of your phone. I have android and know that it is in 'settings'. I cannot begin to tell you where to find anything in the deep abyss of an iphone. I only remember that I wanted to throw my iphone into an abyss!)

I was actually suggesting that you watch you tube videos on your computer with your phone in your hand to learn how to use it and practice. I have done this many times. None of us were born knowing how to use our smart phones. I am 60 years old so age is not the issue. The issue is your belief that you can't do it. That is just a thought but you believe it. Think a different thought. Think "I look forward to knowing how to use my iphone."

Oh, I am just learning its capabilities. I have successfully downloaded some apps, but have not used any of them yet for shops. I know I can "talk" to my phone, but haven't figured out how, yet.

My new computer talks to me, too; but I managed to turn off (or maybe even delete) that feature.

I have not yet taken a photo with my new phone.

I have not yet gotten any websites to open (I know other shoppers who complete reports on their phones; I doubt I will ever reach that level of expertise); as I said earlier, Firefox just sits there and grins at me, and I have never managed to get Safari to work. I don't see any other browsers on it.

I still haven't found "Google". My old phone had a google icon, and I could click on that, and Google would come up, and I could talk to it and get an answer. I would sure like to be able to do that with this phone, as well. But that's not an immediate "need"; I can work without having it.

Trying to learn Win10 AND a new phone at the same time is ... challenging.
