I use SD cards with a standard camera and I know you are talking video instead. I would expect the process is exactly the same. I simply use the camera's menu to delete stuff or link the card to my computer (either with an external card reader or through the slot on the side of my laptop), let the computer detect it and go to the file tree to locate the card. Once I open the directory I can delete any files or folders I want (and usually I do a cut/paste to move the files onto my hard drive in case there comes a time when I need them again).

I would actually take out the SD Card and put it into your computer via a built in SD Card Reader, or buy an SD Card Reader at Walmart for 9 bucks. From there you can go to the start up menu and click on Computer. From computer, find the SD Card listed in the list of Drives. Place your mouse on the SD Card Drive and "right" click. You will get a menu with an option to "Format." Use this to completely erase your SD Card. When you format the SD Card it takes all remnants off the disk so it is like new. If you don't so this, and just delete, you risk corrupting the SD Card or not getting ALL file remnants off the card.

I hope this is clear. If not let me know and I will try to better explain!
Thanks, I've been so busy with video shopping, I hadn't been back to the board. I am going to PM you.
