All Exxon shops suspended indefinitely as of the end of today

FYI - Received the email today, reason is due to the virus. Please do not ask what company. I have named the client.

I did the last local one today. Had a road trip with 30 starting tomorrow.
I am actually a bit relieved, but... you know.
I had 8 to do this week and more next week. I had to cancel them yesterday as my governor recommended all people over 65 stay inside and I am 66. I hated cancelling them.
Its interesting that these shops were cancelled with 2 days remaining for any shops due in the 3rd week. I wish there could have been more of a heads up, but I understand that the scenario is changing not only day to day, but almost hourly.

My suggestion to the team that organizes and creates the type of shop for Exxon/Mobil is to re-evaluate what they ask the MS to inspect/examine with a consideration of avoiding close human interaction. Maybe just an inspection of the exterior elements. IDK

BTW, when performing some shops yesterday, a motorist apparently observed me taking photos. He walked up to me and asked if I was a health inspector taking photos of contaminated pumps.
"No," I replied, (looking a bit dumbstruck, I'm sure), "I'm just taking photos," I said stupidly.

Exxon has a more complicated contract that has built in incentives to complete 100% of locations, so the MS company makes sure to achieve their targets. At the northeast the project managers had completed most of the hard to do routes early in the month, with high bonuses, instead of waiting the end of the period. That's why they had most of the shops here completed. Other project managers, like the orange and blue one, same MS, were still on the $10 per location and small bonuses. Same with their other gas stations clients. If they had increased the bonuses, the green ones would be done early, instead of suspending the program now.

Did the pump have a fever? Was it coughing? Running slowly maybe? Did it look run down? Could the contamination be clearly seen in the photo? Too funny.

Not funny. We are now advised the virus is viable on surfaces up to 3 days. That includes gas pump nozzles!

The local station put hand sanitizer wipes by the pumps. They were all stolen within an hour.

I'm doing gas shops today for programs not yet cancelled. I suspect next week's will be cancelled.
I meant the guy's question was kinda dumb. So you're right, stupid is not funny but it's there. In abundance.

I think it is just too cold for a virus to survive!
Before the gas audits were cancelled by the clients, I would get the oddest looks from the employees who wondered why I was there to do an audit during a 'public health emergency'. Some areas are clearly not the cleanest, so some locations made me a bit nervous considering the virus threat right now. I think it was for the best and a good call on their part to cancel these gas shops for now. But I am missing all the wired looks I usually get form the customers at the pumps. smiling smiley
