My demos have been postponed as well.

Edited to add that I would have canceled them myself if they hadn't postponed them.

Williamsburg is one of my favorite places to go. Sorry to hear you may miss your trip.
I've never been, I was taking my niece and her 7-year-old son. We planned the trip back in December. I am sure that Bush Gardens is out of the question, not even sure if the pool at the resort would be safe. I suppose there are probably parks and places to go walking and see nature. I don't know how interesting that will be to a 7-year-old.
We have annual passes to Busch Gardens. It's a clean and nice park. They have really good shows too! I mystery shopped them several years agosmiling smiley Someone sent me a copy of the stay at home order. I'm sure you can find it online. It outlines what you can and cannot do for now in Virginia. Is your state on lockdown?
I hope your family can make the trip sometime, stay safe and healthy!
My state is on shelter in place and has been for a few weeks (along with school closures), but my trip isn't until June 17th. You said VA was on lockdown until June 10th? I anticipate that's going to be extended.

Jas, I myself looked up the tax extension rule on the IRS website last week. There were three non dated lines of information. The top line said you could delay filing AND paying taxes until July 15. You do not need to file any forms to extend. The third line down said you could delay paying the amount due but you still had to file your return by April 15. Evidently they updated the rule three days after making it. But to me it was presented in a confusing way since they left the one up on the website saying you still needed to file by April 15. They should have either taken the earlier announcement down or clarified that the earlier announcement was no longer in force.
As far as state taxes, they vary from state to state.
NJ just extended the NJ State Income Tax filing date to July 15th to be consistent with the Federal deadline. The NJ extension is automatic.

I live in Michigan and I filed a claim as soon as the Governor signed the EO. My rationale was that the site is really slow due to all of the additional claims - I did it just after midnight on the day that my last name said I should so things were quieter. Initially it was denied since I don't show any wages from employment. However, I received an email today that I should be eligible under the Pandemic Unemployment Compensation fund and, therefore, I don't need to do anything further, the claim denial should suffice. I'll just wait and see, but I am in the system, and from what I understand that was the hardest part. As I look at it, I am a taxpayer who is currently without income through no fault of my own so I had no issue filing a claim. Would I prefer to be out working, absolutely (I'm running out of places to clean!), but the income will remove one temptation to leave the house (and my kiddo will be a Senior in HS next year so I'll be happy to have the extra cash for all of those expenses).

Not sure if I will claim unemployment or not. Right now the state does not know what I do and I really do not want them to know. I get enough through SSI benefits to get by.

This is reason enough for the whole program. Every person that can be made financially comfortable in the short term is one less on the streets getting or spreading the virus. The couple grand it will cost per head is a bargain when compared to the cost of treating the wake left by one person out and about.

Because you don’t pay taxes on your fees?
On the rare occasions now when I see a shop I ask myself if it's worth the risk. I am consistently deciding that it's not.
I am getting "at home" opportunities. But I wouldn't mind seeing some grocery delivery and contactless curbside grocery and restaurant shops, I would do them in a heartbeat...as long as the restaurant ones did not require cold items. I guess if I had to order a cold item I could always toss it in the trash.
With an extension, you can pay taxes after the due date...you would just normally owe interest. I think that the only major benefit of the new filing date would be having the interest waived.

That said, with so many people being stuck at home, and just about everyone having internet access, what possible excuse is there to NOT file taxes in time? I know some will use the excuse of needing a tax preparer, but if you are not working, and have time to watch Netflix all day, how about reading up on tax laws instead and filing your own taxes? With most of the tax programs available these days, it's relatively simple...
I am not watching Netflix, I am cooking and otherwise being too lazy. But you are right, I will just suck it up and do it. The last of my investment documents arrived a couple days ago, so I have no other reason...other than being a whiny @#$%&. LOL!

Understood. I live in a world where is feels like everyone is watching too much Netflix...but I can also see the dormant Netflix building from my property, so it comes with the territory. It's amazing that they built this giant building, filled it with employees and now the network operates just fine with nobody there....

I set aside last Sunday to tackle taxes, got into it after coffee and realized there just wasn't that much to do. I was finished with the basics by lunchtime. I took a break and then reviewed everything in the afternoon before completing them, but I have also been filing my own taxes for 25 years, so the morning was mostly about reading up on new rules.

This weekend I start tackling new recipes.
I have been watching 'Pie in the Sky' on acorn tv. Cop-turned-chef Henry Crabbe was called away from many efforts to update his recipes... "and the plot, like my gravy, thickens"... which is a line from Raj on 'The Big Bang Theory'... which all boils down to this. People who like mystery and food might want to follow Henry Crabbe's little sleuthing and cooking adventures, which often blend together...

Somebody is a procrastinator... you’ve got lots of stuff that you are supposed to list on eBay.
According to Wikipedia, it "describes a situation headed for disaster inescapably or precipitately." You're welcome. : )
