USPS Shops Showing Up on Job Board

I finally received help from the scheduler! (Note to self - they apparently don't work Thurs.- Mon.) And was able to pass the test!

Lol. I understand what a return is, but in the past you couldn’t do returns like you’re referring to as part of the shops.

Your relatives ask you to take packages to the post office? Inside the packages are items they purchased and now want to send back to the stores?

They haven't asked me to return any packages for them. I just happen to know that they have returns that they want make because they bought stuff online that doesn't fit, they don't like, etc. but have to pay the shipping to return it. My mom actually bought something at a Macy's physical location before they closed, and when she called to ask about the return policy, they told her that she could mail the items to them and that they would process the return. One of my aunt's bought some items online from Talbot's and also wants to make a return but the shipping fee wouldn't justify returning $15 pants.

I also purchased something from Amazon that I intended on returning today by dropping it off at the UPS store, but since it was shipping directly from the seller, I'd have to pay the shipping to return it and the seller would deduct $3.68 to cover what they paid to ship it. Not worth it on an item that I paid $11.99 for.

They are adding them gradually, likely as states open up. Arizona is now added.

Regarding the certification, it was super slow to load--I mean dialup kind of slow. I didn't give up because of reading this thread. Passed it first time.

I only watched part of the video because it was buffering so badly. I did learn that we are now supposed to check the trash and take a photo if overflowing.

Shopping domestic and international locations since 2003.
Funny that they're waiting for states to 'open' because the post offices have been open the whole time. But maybe there hasn't been enough traffic to make it worthwhile.

In the past, people on the forum have posted for a "Post office buddy". Just give your zip code and ask if anyone is interested.

Several other shoppers and I ship 1 lb. bags of rice or beans back and forth!

I love the self-assign but the limit is 5 so a shopper cannot have more than that at a time. Planning a week or a route is not possible. It will be more like the Presto Principle, grab and go, one day/job at a time. I like to organize my work schedule in advance. It makes me nervous when I do not have a clear plan. I often used these as a base for an area route and had a week or so to add on extras. No more.
On the last quiz question, am I supposed to be assuming there is a clerk at that second station that a customer is standing in front of? I can't see how any of my other answers that I enter is wrong, so it makes me wonder if I am required to make an assumption on this last question instead of what I actually see.

(I have seen people ask this type of question and have it answered on other shops, so don't feel asking it is a problem.)
@KA047 .. I did not "read anything into" what I saw in the picture. Perhaps he's just filling out a form. HTH

Thank you, that info was all I needed. smiling smiley
I’m in TN and the USPS shops aren’t posted. I will be in TX next week and was able to self assign 3 shops. I couldn’t tell they were self assign until I applied and they were immediately assigned.

There was a certification available called ‘USPS Regular Box Certification‘ that I took before passing. The guidelines show its for FY20.
Has anyone completed some and tried to get more? I get the warning that my profile does not meet criteria. The scheduler email said that once you are below 5 assignments, you can pick more, keeping five as the max. Not happening. More glitches? I'm tired.

Post deleted as it violates a Forum guideline which states not to name the MSC in the same thread when the Client has already been named. Please feel free to re-post without the violation.

Same problem here.
Yes. A communication with my scheduler said that they are working on the problem. I think unemployment is easier and pays better, maybe!

Help. I just had a shop rejected because it was not reported soon enough after completion. Can someone tell me what the limit is? I do not know how to use PowerPoint and could not get the guidelines to come up to find this. I think it was completed about 6 hours later but I'm not sure. I did the shop before lunch, eat lunch did the second shop, came home and took a nap. I had all my notes and times, so I know they were correct.
I believe you have to report one shop before doing another. After your last shop of the day, you have eight hours to complete the report.

Cool idea. Do you get the full reimbursement ($11 or $14) if you ship something so small though?
@Colorado, You get UP TO the maximum $14 reimbursement for the package PLUS the $12 fee. Yesterday I mailed off 2 boxes at 2 different locations. At location #1, the fee for shipping was $9.20. At location #2 the fee for shipping was $8.70. So for location #1, if approved, I would be paid the $12 fee + $9.20, for a total of $21.20. For location #2, I would be paid the fee of $12 + $8.70 for a total of $20.70. In the past, I have shipped out something that cost $14.70 just to ship. So in that case, I was paid the $12 fee, but only $14 in reimbursement, since that is the max for reimbursement, for a total of $26. Hope that helps and didn't make it too confusing!

I wonder if that's just when you are using the app on your phone. Because I always report mine on my laptop when I get home, in the order that I did the locations. I did two yesterday, and reported them on my laptop last evening. I do think I recall where the instructions state to have them reported within 8 hours now, though. So I got my first location done by 1:20 pm and my second by 2:30 pm, and had them both reported by 8:30 pm, which was under 8 hours. Hopefully, I'll be fine....still pending approval.
I guess that is the problem with mine. I did the first one around 11:30 AM and the second one around 1:00. I waited until after supper to do the reports which would make it about 7:30 to 8:00. The first one was declined but the second was fine.
Wow! That's awful, barbage. I'm sorry that happened to you. Can you re-do it? I know I was surprised to read in the guidelines that they had gone to an 8 hour reporting requirement. Because it's not like they review them that quickly.
I think I read that in the guidelines. But it would only make sense if you are using the app, which I do. Not too many people lug around their laptops!

I thought it was always 8 hrs to report after the shop was completed. If I am not mistaken, before you complete another UPS Shop in the same day, you had to wait 2 or 3 hrs before doing the next one and the report had to be completed and sent in before you moved on?

ETA, I always use my computer to do the reports.

Isaiah, you only have to wait 30 from the time out on the receipt before you can do the next one. And if you're reporting on your laptop at home, you can get them all done before your go home and report them, as long as you meet the 8 hour reporting time. Oh and don't go within 30 minutes of opening or closing, that's in the guidelines as well
I went back and checked the guidelines again. I don’t think I can post them here as it would be a violation. It does say under the planning that if you are completing multiple shops to please submit your survey for one location before moving onto the next.
