Wishing good health to you and yours!
Current conditions have caused me to re-orient my standards for accepting shops. I'm starting to see some things open back up, and there is now a sense of urgency when it comes to accepting available assignments.
Gone are the days of waiting for certain shops to add a bonus. In order to be compliant with my unemployment claim (still not sure if I'm even going to get anything) I cannot turn down available work.
As such, my former standards about distance and pay are totally out the window, and I have a whole new mindset: any not undesirable shop is worth applying for. It's a reason to get out of the house, and I'm now trying to operate at as large a loss as possible for 2020.
So, drive an 80-mile roundtrip to grab a handful of prices off a McD's drive-thru menu board for $5? Yes, please, and I'll gladly do it again next month. Ordinarily a shop offer like that would be immediately deleted from my inbox.
Same company is offering car wash shops which are quick, easy and relatively safe, and they start at $5 + reimbursement. My car has never been so clean, and some more remote locations have been upped to $13 or $15.
Unfortunately, supply and demand is now working against us as the number of available shops is but a mere fraction compared to pre-COVID levels. Way fewer shops + the same number of shoppers available = better grab what you can when you can.
One thing that is working out really well for me is WeGoLook. I had been signed up for months but never took any assignments. They are now my #1 vendor (not saying much given my gross $$$ for the year, emphasis on gross).
Jobs pay between $17 and $24, and take about 15 - 20 minutes. Everything is done in their app, and it's both stable and slick. They pay every Friday for the previous week's work. Check them out if you are not familiar with them.
