FIVE GUYS IS BACK!!

This just happened to me on Friday. Curbside was not available for the location for dinner. All other Five Guys in that area disappeared after I accepted that one, so I couldn't even pick up a dine-in or other shop. Don't see any posted since, so my guess is I got knocked out of that rotation. Very disappointing. sad smiley
Had JITB instead.
They probably would have rejected a second one done in the same time frame even though you reported the first as closed/unable to do. That is odd that the other shops disappeared on you.

Meanwhile, I just checked and the online ordering lunch shop that I wanted at my closest location, which went away on Friday, is back on the board again, for $25 (which is the MAO they rejected on Friday). Maybe Tuesday's lunch since I already have one for today.

Wow, I am shocked. I actually had a $28 MAO accepted for my usual $25 location (posted at $25). They still had the dinner shop available from last week. TBH, I didn't really want to do it, so I figured I'd ask for more than usual and surprisingly they gave it to me.

Well, I got the email. Been restricted from the five guy shops. No explanation.

My condolences. But it will be good for your health.
yes, for sure. No explanation and only Five Guys is restricted. But, yes probably is better for my health, been doing too many of these shops for years. LOL ( and without a problem I might add)

I would trade with you. I'm restricted from Publix, but I can have all the burgers I can manage. Sick of hamburgers.

Yes, you really have to be careful about them lowballing you on the phone. It's a shame that they do it, it's totally unprofessional to offer you less than the current shop price.

Yes and as I've mentioned before, I don't remember them pulling this before Covid. This is a post-reopening tactic and it has turned me into a call-screener with them. Some of the schedulers will mention the specific location and I'll check the board for the price there, then call them back.

I agree with all of you and wish they would improve this practice. I've been told that schedulers do not have access to the job board and therefore are working off something like a "fee list" they have for you before they call. So if the fee increases later in the week or over the weekend, they don't know the "live fee" listed on the job board and just offer based on the information that they have (which is most likely the lowest fee that you've completed at a specific location). Still, I've had some really frustrating calls where they'll offer $4.50 for another client (not 5G) when the jobs are already at $6 or $10 or MAO on the job board.

I'm usually pretty good about knowing what the current fee is for a job, but there have definitely been a couple of times when I've been unhappy to find that I accepted a job for a fee from a scheduler that was lower than the job board listing, or that the job board fees had increased or started offering MAO. Definitely feels unprofessional as @MisterBill said, and unfortunate, since I generally like working for this MSC.

That sounds rather suspect since they know what shops are currently available and should be able to see the fee. I know that when they've called me for a dinner and I say I want the lunch, or a different location, they are able to look up the shops to see what is available.

Of course, it could also be a case of "never attribute to malice that which can adequately be explained by incompetence/stupidity".

No, I agree that it seems questionable that they wouldn't be able to see the specific shop fees, etc. I know they will often say, "Hold on, let me check if other shops are available...", etc., which does seem to indicate they have some sort of "live shop availability" information. Don't know why they wouldn't have the actual fees along with the available shops...but I'm just reporting what they have told me when I ask why they offer fees lower than what is currently on the board.
I used to get my highest fees from the schedulers. I called them today and they offered $2 over the website. When I checked online a few hours later, the MAO was up. I got the fees that I asked for on 2 shops..

Based on your comment, I put in for an online order lunch shop I'd been eyeing for this weekend at a location I've never done but was going to be driving past on my way to another shop. It was posted for $12, I decided not to push my luck and only asked for $22 since that's been a pre-weekend price point recently. Got approved in under five minutes. I don't even need the food since I'm going to be on my way to another restaurant for a take-out shop but I couldn't pass it up. Would not have done a regular shop. This one is really cheap, only $3.79 for a veggie sandwich. I would almost afford a large fries if I wanted it. The only downside is I have to order a bottled beverage, which means I can't use my phone to scan the Freestyle machine and get my prize for a third pour (actually, I guess I could while I'm there and just pour down the drain).

Did anyone else notice that they don't seem to be doing delivery shops this month. I have a search setting with a high mileage limit and when I sort by reimbursement, there aren't any of the delivery shops.

I saw delivery shops for my area for this month (June), but they are still at base pay and only one is left. They are usually taken at base pay around me, so I haven't done one for several months now.

One delivery shop is available in my area.

I missed a call from them an while back. I called back about 30 minutes later, and it went to their voice mail.

Years ago, certain Five Guys disappeared from the listings I saw. I was told that I had been spotted as a shopper. They eventually came back. But only 1 or 2 disappeared at a time. I made a point of visiting the ones I couldn't see just to baffle them. In one, it was amazing to see the scurry of activity when I arrived as they cleaned the bathroom, chairs, tables, floor, etc., and even once opened the door for me. And I wasn't the shopper, I was just having fun.

How did they out you? I've been shopping a local location for the last gazillion years and no one has once batted an eye.

Did they get a poor score?
I have no idea how they outed me, but if you go back 8 years (just a guess) in discussions of Five Guys, there were multiple reports from shoppers of seeing photos of themselves and other presumed shoppers on walls behind the door of the back kitchen in some Five Guys. How did they decide who it was? The speculation back then was that they matched the times on the receipt to store security cameras. Frankly, I never understood why they would report finding a shopper rather than providing exemplary service so that they could get the bonus. At one location, I had definitely made the "let's qualify for the bonus" list.

Of course, the same thing was happening at the "slice and dice" pizza stores back then also. It seemed to have turned into a game at the pizza stores and there were some odd scenarios involving turning down specials so that you paid more. It was probably not hard to identify the shoppers for the "slice and dice" shops.

So I looked yesterday and saw the delivery shops, although not for the locations near me that I've done recently in person. Are they now linking in person and delivery shops for rotation purposes? They were not doing that for a while.
I am pretty sure this is what happened to me. I was probably recognized since I only did a few local shops. I don't know what the big secret is with five guys not just telling the shopper this. I am just moving on from market force. I will not spend an hour in a mattress shop for 10.00
Personally, I love the 5 Guys MSC and have been with them for years. Today I expect to spend far less than an hour in a mattress store for $30 and an easy report.

Edited because I did it again...linked MSC when client was named....duh me

I made an offer for one of my regular locations for my regular fee. I checked this morning and it was rejected. A few hours later, right before I planned on calling the schedulers, Samantha sent an email for the same location for $2 more than my MAO. I got that one.

Go figure.

This week's shops went to MAO today, maybe because it's a semi-holiday weekend. Offered my usual $25 and it was accepted. Worked for me, since if I didn't get it in time to do tomorrow, I wasn't going to be able to go until Tuesday.

BTW, there is a promotion going on with the Coke Freestyle machines through 7/18. If you do pours on three separate days using your phone, you get a free $3 Amazon gift card. You need to scan the barcode and do the pouring from their website to qualify. Details in this file:

Submitted a MAO for the $28 I got the last time for my local FG and it was rejected sad smiley.
Samantha may come through.

Last week I MAO of my usual fee and it was rejected. Three days later a scheduler called me and I got an even higher fee from him. Thats what happens when you snoze, you lose.
