Same here I just saw it on the site. I also saw that some other shops appearing also have no fee and they are retail shops. Interesting.

I understand food shops with no fee, but how do retail shops work w/o a fee? I've only seen buy and return retail shops or audits. smiling smiley
The new normal? Not gonna do it..... Not gonna do it..... No fee No shop.... I always waited for a bonus anyway for those shops. I guess from now on the first bonus will be the old starting fee. Now I'm beginning to understand what the old timers here in the mystery shopping world are talking about when the mention how things used to be. I am a new generation old timer now.
@ shoptastic - Their retail shops are very basic. Make some observations and make a purchase. There is no return involved.

@1forum1 - I guess it's supply and demand? Since there aren't a lot of shops available they're hoping shoppers will pick up the shops without a fee?
I saw this too! Seems weird that when there was even fewer shops during the beginning etc of COVID but it still offered a fee and now nothing! I’m definitely not going to pick any up until they add a fee.. very disappointing...
There is a branch of this restaurant that I walk by most days....even without any car expenses I wouldn't do it for no fee.

How much reimbursement for the purchase do ya get? I'd hope at least $15.
I just saw this after checking the job board today and was coming to post the same thing. It seems like all the new jobs, whether fast food or retail, etc. for this MSC are now showing no fee. I was wondering if it was just my area, but I guess not from reading earlier comments in this discussion. This is definitely disappointing, since most of the base fees in the past for this MSC were low to begin with.
How many clients can still afford to pay fees? Are they gently moving in the direction of receipt surveys? This is not too far-fetched. After all, Shoptastic has been posting information from the American Restaurant Association regarding dire restaurant conditions. It would not be a surprise if the mentioned clients needed to make changes in the mystery shopping portion of their budgets.

Would you go to this type of store or restaurant on your own dime, use the code on your receipt to take a survey, and get free product, coupons, or a chance to win something?

National Restaurant Association, but close enough. winking smiley

Yeah, restaurants, in particular, are hard hit by COVID. 3% are estimated to have permanently closed already and 10's of thousands more are expected to permanently close too (see the WSJ article).
And I was thinking maybe if grocery stores are booming from COVID, perhaps they'd offer bonuses (actually, I think a Confero project has a bonus). But, I realized later that perhaps people doing other shops that have stopped/reduced fees are flocking to do grocery store shops now. And the increased demand for them means no bonuses/PAD??

June shops were $5 fee $8 reimbursement all month.
I don't shop this client. I just see the offer.
I like Raising Cane’s and thank goodness 2 locations are literally a mile away from me. Since they want to cut the fee, I’ll just go on my bike or Lime scooter to save on gas expenses.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
Even without having to file a report, and even if there were no pandemic, I would need to be paid to walk in their doors well. Paid very, very, very well if I were required to eat it.
I think this is the MSC preying on the desperation of people's circumstances. I think they are hoping some of us have situations so bad that receiving a free meal and nothing else would be considered a "win".

I noticed that, too. I have done many shops at RC in the past couple years, and while I thought $5 was low, I did them bc I like the food and the shops are easy. But I refuse to do them just for free food.
Nobody in my area is picking these up... they usually fly off the board and I’m lucky to get one or two. Looks like the people in my area also are refusing to do them for no fee..

That's good.

I've really wondered if the MSCs are more desperate than shoppers right now. They are small businesses, which have had a bumpy ride getting PPP loans. If clients have either stopped ms-ing and/or reduced contract values for them, then maybe they are more desperate than shoppers, who may have $1,200 + enhanced unemployment tiding them over up through now. Many people ended up earning more in recent months not working than actually working.

It'll be interesting to see if these zero fees ultimately go up in a month or so.
I would not be surprised if some people are waiting for fees to appear. Would anyone wait long enough for bonuses to appear?

I dunno about anyone else's specific situation. I am not receiving state or federal unemployment benefits (I did not even bother to apply), and I work a little bit each month. I received a few small bonuses which accounted for time/distance/fuel/a little bit of profit for me. Occasionally, I can add something on the fly and make the overall money work. No big bucks, though.

Maybe for some people it is beneficial to barter: evals and report in exchange for food and skills practice. If they do not receive fees, they can accumulate meals (and lower their grocery cost or something???) without losing unemployment funds. States will permit some earnings up to a certain amount before deducting the unemployment amount for a given week. Yes? No?

I was just looking at the site. I had never "decline"d a shop on their website. When I clicked, I got a screen with several different options. One was that the fee/reimbursement was not enough. Do people really use this?
I think this is the first month they have been doing Raising Cain’s with no fee. They have been doing Arby’s for months with no fee and people pick them up for some reason even though the reimbursement doesn’t cover the whole meal cost. Eat fast food and file a report for no fee? No thanks.

Not sure which MSC it is, but there is one that I used to decline and state that the fee was not enough (it was one of like four options, I believe). I use that option to let the MSC know.

That MSC also openly encourages bonus bids. So, anyone not happy with a job board fee can just email them and make an offer.
You have to accept the shop and then cancel to see the options.

They also have the Gas station audits back at $6 fee and reimburse $10. They finally realize that everything has gone up.
Just completed one that I picked up before the fees were removed. I really expected the MSC to cancel my shop after they switched them all to no fee. bu they didn't and I assume I'll get my minimal fee.
First shop I've done since doing a Texas Roadhouse bar shop back in February, the only ones I will do for no fee.
