Chem-Dry revealed carpet shops

Hi,
I signed up for one of these shops. Has anyone ever done one before? The shop requires several photos of the contractor including photos of their vehicle. It also states the shop will be denied if the required photos aren't taken.

How are people who live in apartments successfully completing these shops? It doesn't seem likely that you'd see the contractors vehicle if you don't have a house where they park outside of your front door.

I have done these, but I don't live in an apartment. Do you have another person who can stay in the apartment with the employee while you go out and get the photo? The job itself is very easy.

No, and my building has underground guest parking. Visitors pull into the parking garage then they check in with the concierge at the front desk. I'd never see their vehicle. I can't figure out how I would be able to get the picture the way my building lay out is setup.

These are revealed, so it shouldn't be a problem to go out and get the photo of the vehicle. I found them simple and well worth doing.

Funny coincidence - the owner saw my son's graduation pictures in my home and realized that our kids graduated together, my sister used to work with his wife, and he used to work with my mom. Small world!
I had a Chem Dry tech come to my house around 8 years later and immediately ask, "Is this a shop again?"
Job cancelled.
I did one of those shops. I live in a house, so there was no problem snapping a photo of the vehicle... however, I would advise you to take the front, back, and sides of the vehicles as soon as you can. The tech came to my home and asked if I was a mystery shopper, so I played dumb and said I didn't know what he was talking about. The guideline says to reveal yourself WHILE they're cleaning not BEFORE. When I told him I was a shopper a little later, he got really irritated and wouldn't even look at me. He was really rude to me after that. He blatantly refused any photos to be taken with him in it so I had to snap the car photos while he wasn't looking. Then he complained about still being shopped after being in business for several years, complained about the mask, etc. etc... so, take the photos while you can.
I have done it several times. Never had a problem. The tech has always been amicable and has told me that they can get in big trouble if they resist or don't follow the process.

These are awesome and personally, worth all the hassle, considering how simple the shop is for the reimbursement limit.

Right. These businesses (many are small businesses actually) essentially pay a premium, like a franchise cost basically. So they need to make sure they aren't watering down their products, hence why there are strict instructions on samples.

I’m fairly certain that they DO water down the product or use different products to save money.

I wouldn't be surprised on any corruption involved. Kinda like using synthetic pee to pass a test, the businesses franchised under Chem-Dry could also have a way to get around Chem-Dry's lab tests too. But that possibility is just conspiracy smiling smiley

Chickster - I had an experience just like yours. In fact, sounds like the same guy. Lol. I was done with those shops after that. As a female, there’s nothing like having a male stranger get mad at you in your own house. I was home by myself, too. Lesson learned.
racdsmith - I'm sorry to hear that. I felt unsafe having him in my house since he got increasingly upset. Luckily, my family was home (2 males), so I knew (sort of) that he wouldn't do anything. Still, it was very unpleasant.
Confession time..but oh so funny:
The last time I did this shop was several years ago when they switched to the current MSC. The fellow was great and did a terrific job. He got all upset/worried when I revealed that I was shopping him because he was wearing jeans and that was not part of the uniform. Since I was required to take a photo, he was just besides himself about being reprimanded, etc. Hey, the guy was crawling around on my carpet and messing with the cleaning stuff. I didn't think jeans were so bad so I suggested offering him a pair of pants for the photo. (Don't judge me) The problem was that my husband is over 6' tall and this guy was shorter than me, like 5'3". Even my pants were too long or tight. I had a box of my mother's clothes (petites) from when we cleaned out her house after she passed on. I brought him a pair of Alfred Dunner stretch waist, pull on khakis with no fly front. They fit...somewhat and we took the photo with his shirt out. I smile every time I think of this.

Besides this lovely memory, the shop was terrific and paid quite well for what I had done.
