How long would you wait at Sonic?

It has been 9 minutes since I pushed the order button. Every car that has pulled in since I got here has left without ordering.

Now 18 mins.

Did you switch stalls after 5 minutes? That's what the guidelines for July state.

That's not the issue. And I have moved. They are not responding to the stalls but there is no signage stating the stalls are closed.. The location very busy and i think they are short-staffed and ignoring the drive in.

I'd ask the drive-thru specifically if the stalls are closed... If they say 'yes,' I believe there's a variance that allows you to shop it as a drive-thru. If they say no, you waited more than long enough. I'd report the location as closed, or reschedule if you really want to the do the shop...

Don't the directions specify what to do? I believe if you change stalls and still get no service, you may just leave. Report what happened.

I did have this happen to me. I waited 20 minutes after moving to the 2nd stall, then checked the restroom and left. Reported exactly what happened. Got paid.

Currently, you may be exempt from checking the restroom because of the pandemic.

I think the specifics are on page 5 of the instructions. Easily overlooked.
Wait 5 minutes, change stalls wait the maximum of 20 minutes. Leave and report and get paid!
Ugh? I think you formally identified an issue with the speaker system. It was not working properly, someone did not turn it on inside the location, or something else prevented the summons. You reported that other cars left without being served. too. This would support the concept. If I were starving, I might think of it as an 'ugh'.

I said ugh because I'm afraid won't get paid. I am actually delighted I didn't have to take a bite of the burger and eat a tater tot. LOL

Yea well what I hate is you order and pay with a card at the stall and then that is the last contact for 30 minutes. You see all of these chipper young people going about their business and just ignoring you. I had to lay on the horn to get their attention someone comes over and asks what is going on and I explain that I have been waiting about 30 minutes for a burger fry and soda. Well, why didn't you push the button? Because I am too darn mad to wait for another 30 minutes for someone to ignore me again. Finally got my food but I have not been back to that one location.

Wow. The Sonics here must be better than other places in the country. I eat at Sonic a lot. There are 7 Sonics close to my office and it makes a good, quick lunch when I'm eating alone. After pushing the button, I'm usually helped in less than 10 seconds. Only twice have I had to wait more than a minute and both those times it was less than 2 minutes. Except there was one time when I pushed the button but was not helped and I changed stalls after 4 minutes - and was immediately helped when I pushed the button at the new stall. I told them I had just moved from a stall where I pushed the button and nobody answered, and they sent somebody out to the stall to put up an "out of order" sign. And gave me a free Route 44 drink.

After ordering, I almost always get my food in 4 minutes or less, although it has taken up to 8 minutes 42 seconds. It has never gone beyond 8:42 for me. Anytime it goes over 6 minutes, which has only been a few times, I press the button and ask for the order status. I ask very politely. They apologize profusely and bring me something free and I usually get cherry limeade tokens and coupons.

I get why you are angry. I can't imagine sitting there 30 minutes. I wouldn't sit there more than 6 minutes before pressing the button. If it went over 10 minutes, I would press the button again and ask that my money be refunded.
On the CPI If the site is closed and/or a purchase cannot be made, the shop fee will be changed to $3
The guidelines I have in front of me (07/20/2020) says:
"When you arrive Section"
If the Drive In/Stall are completely close, switch to Drive Thru if the location has one that is open.
If you don't get a responds with in 5 minutes change stales and keep timing.

I had a shop this last week were I had to change stalls several times because the were not working, could not understand them, or just would not answer. I had wait time of 35 minutes before they took my order . Then I had to wait 15 minutes before I got my food.
I did have a shop last month that I had that was closed when I had arrived (100 mile drive) I called the number on the CPI and found out they had no internet and had been waiting for the internet provider to show up for three days, they did pay the shop in full.
