I requested the shop. I am interested in receiving/reading a free book -regardless of whether it’s regarding an issue normally of interest to me or in agreement with my political beliefs. I think it would be interesting, especially if it’s written from a perspective different from mine. Then, I’ll be compensated a few bucks for my reaction and/or experience? Yes, please.
I dunno about the specific book, but my question was this: will our approved comments be posted on little cards in stores or on websites for the bookstores in each city listed in the Intellishop job board? These would be like solicited and paid 'reader fave' or similar comments that have been used in various places.

From my perspective, reading a book of which I have no interest would by far more boring than watching a movie I dislike. At least with the movie, I am able to multi-task, which would not be possible for me in reading. Referencing old adages, though, to each his/her own and what is one person's meat is anothers poison.

My book is on it's way. It may be awful but it sounds like the type of book where you really do not need to read every single word to get the gist and to be able to truthfully answer every question. If well written and truthful it is the type of book that might be very useful to those who find themselves or friends or family members with futures that have been changed by the virus and they need to rethink some things. Not giving any hints as to what in their life has changed. Could be anything including political, social, economic, emotional, psychological, friendships, fashion, housing, marriage, family etc changes that are taking place...and many other things changing that are on the current table. I am being very broad on purpose.
Also, the announcement seems to indicate that different books will be assigned to different shoppers. If I got assigned the book that you are getting, I might well withdraw from the assignment.

Lots of people have noticed it. Some people are just angry or jealous. It’s a terrible way to live for sure.

Let's stay on topic. I'm hoping the books will be on general-interest topics and have wide appeal.
I am interested to find out if everyone has the same book. There were two listings for the city I live in so perhaps if I had clicked on the other one I would have gotten a different book. I was not even sure I had to click on my city,. I did not see that it said that anywhere. Perhaps I should have selected a different part of the country for a change. And I really doubt they are doing this to use our words in public. I cannot imagine they would be allowed to do so. Perhaps on the msc website for future clients to see the quality of writing we shoppers have. The only reason i can imagine is they want, if the book is the same for everyone, to show on the first day that there were many presales or sales of the book. Looked like there were 30 or 40 of these jobs, maybe more so if someone looked at Amazon and saw that there were 40 presales of the book already they may assume it is a good book and buy it. The author gave it a hearty rating.

Agree with you on the first part. I want a hard copy of the book though. Too much screen time over the last few months, and, it will be nice to have something tangible arrive.

Got my book today. Hard cover. I don't mind reading it but it was different from what I imagined. The title of the book was listed before I accepted the shop. I have no idea if whether I turned it down after seeing the title it would have been counted as a point against me. But for those curious and in good standing not having turned down many jobs in the past it probably would be fine to check which book it is and then decide. Does anyone know how Intellishop treats a declined shop at the stage after seeing the full guidelines?

I decided not to apply for this assignment, It seemed like undue pressure to read an entire book of unknown length in seven days in order to receive a small amount of money. Someday, I might want to read at that pace again. I would like to know which book or books are involved in this project. Were readers expected to respond to different covers or illustrations? Fonts or type sizes? Inquiring minds want to know (but do not want to read this book within seven days).

I've read more books since the pandemic hit than I did in college days and can finish a good novel in 2 days. But the key word is "good." I deleted my application for this since if it's not a novel and is something that would bore me, I wouldn't be able to finish it in 7 weeks, let alone 7 days.

I love to read and at any one time usually have a book in progress. Since I'm running low on reading material, this sounds like a job I might like. I read all the time for no pay; why not read and get s little something out of it? That being said, I read novels, so maybe whatever this particular book is wouldn't be interesting.

I also read quite a bit, particularly now during the pandemic. I do all of my reading on a Kindle with borrowed books from my local library and the Navy Library (if you are retired, active duty, government civilian workers and their families). I believe the Army and Air Force have similar online libraries. I am also enrolled in “The Fussy Librarian” which provides me a daily email of free Kindle books. These are mostly books by new authors though, where they try to get you hooked into a series. Sorry to take this thread sideways but I have found that many readers are not aware of what’s out there free free and no reviews are required.

Amazon has a lot of free Kindle books. There's also Calibre, which is a free program. You can use it to read/organize public domain books, of which there are a ton on the internet if you look hard enough.
