Haven't seen them shopped since Starbucks got into financial difficulty and was closing stores, including ones that had not yet quite opened. But please realize that our ICAs (Independent Contractor Agreement) with companies would not allow us to disclose who their clients are in any event--neither publicly nor privately. But in this case, I haven't seen the shops in several years so I am comfortable telling you that.
But if you're lucky to get one, they often result in a free drink. Usually just a tall-sized, but I'm sadly enough of a regular at my Stabucks that my crew always up-size me! If you're on the West Coast, there are other more local coffee place that DO still get shopped; there's at least that! Plus, I recall the Starbucks shops required thermometers; I always found it too much of a bear to be worth the free drink...
For a long time they required both a scale and a thermometer. Only late in the game did they have ones about service in addition to ones about meeting product standards.
Coffee Bean gets shopped (really big in the Long Beach, CA area). And there are other big chain coffee shops that get shopped on a monthly basis, but Starbucks has just gone to costumer surveys.
And yeah, the thermometer thing was just ridiculous...
The only coffee shop in my area that is/was shopped is in the process of closing down many locations, including both in my area, so no more of those for me I guess.
