Discount chain size audits

So I tried these this week after resisting them for a while. Truth be told, I kind of enjoy them. The shoes are the worst but I can work through the clothes in less than 10 minutes.

I really am struggling with getting good pictures of the shoe racks since they seem to be the worst.

I have been doing these for years and most of the time, they go smoothly. I'm sure the store knows what I am doing as their loss prevention people start watching me but, no one has ever approached me. Yes, the shoes seem to be the worst! Also the sleepwear, bras and lingerie. The only time I won't do these audits are right before Christmas. Yikes!!
Out of curiosity, how did you know that the loss prevention people started watching you?

I won't step foot in one of those stores under any circumstances. In my area, everyone is treated as guilty until proven innocent. They have metal detectors as you go IN and as you go out. They not only check the pockets of all items that you want to try on, but they check them again as you come out, just in case you had something in your undergarment and are trying to sneak it out in the clothes you intend to buy. And yes, they check the pockets of the clothes you intend to buy. My 12 year old was treated very disrespectfully. The wretched female at the fitting room expected her to turn out her pockets on the clothes she was wearing and said she couldn't leave the fitting area until she did, despite the fact that she had not touched anything on the sales floor. Had I not been nearby and overheard, there's no telling what else she would have been subjected to. They can keep their stuff and their pricing audits.
I’ve never had that happen in the stores I do in Southern California. In addition, currently the dressing rooms are closed due to COVID.

I was actually coming here this evening to ask about these very size audits!!!!

My question is, how difficult is it to find the right department and/or items to count? I'm not clothes savvy in any shape, form, or fashion, and wonder if I would end up spending two hours trying to find the right departments and categories.
I did this once. It's easy to find the right department, it's one of those big stores that you can look up and see the signs like "Women's," or "kids," or "shoes," and then just over. I think the hard part for me was trying to remember how many I was counting and how many sizes were off. I can't remember if the audit wanted a picture of one of the tags, or if you just needed to enter in the bar code number or not, but I took a picture so I could enter the numbers later on at home.

I'm sure it will go quickly if you do more than one but I didn't really enjoy it so I didn't do it again.

Finding the department is very easy. Plus you just match up the number on the ticket.
Just pray you don't get "bras". That's awkward.
Haha!!! well, maybe you can say you're buying it for someone else.

Agree with the others the department is on the tag and the audit requires one SKU number by department and a count of a hundred pieces. the first thing I do to make it easy is count out a hundred pieces and mark them on the rack by moving other pieces to make a distinct endpoint. Then as I go I grab the pieces that are Misssized off the rack like I'm going to be purchasing them and then I can do a quick count and put them back on the rack. It's a little harder with the shoes as you actually have to pick each pair up. Versus just slide it over on the rack.
I usually say I'm looking for my teenager daughter if any employee gives me a glance. A 32AA I am not. smiling smiley

IMO, they make it very obvious, walking up and down the aisles that are near me and they always seem to be in the same area I am. I could be wrong, but, most of the time I have someone "tailing" me. smiling smiley But, no one has ever approached me directly.

POC have that all of the time. My son got tailed in Nordstrom Rack in WA. It was super obvious. I watched it from across the store. Strangely enough, there's nothing in that store that he could not have put on his credit card to buy. I told him not to worry about it. Now he knows how POC feel every single day.
I did one of these and will endeavour to never do another. IMO they are too time-consuming for the pay and are impossible to accomplish without being made as a mystery shopper.
I did one of these that had a large bonus. I actually found it fairly simple. I would do it again with a bonus. I am not sure if I would do it without a bonus. I mystery shop for fun and just to make a little money or have a meal paid for here and there.
