Movie Checkers

I've been reading on this forum about doing IC work at movie houses. What exactly does a checker do? Do you sit in the dark counting patrons or entering data in an app? What is a "standee"? Is it a cardboard poster of some sort. Do you have to stay and watch the whole movie?

Please pardon so many questions. I'm a brand new shopper looking for a niche. Thanks.

I would not bank on movie theaters having work for much longer. People in the know seem to think that they are headed the way of Blockbuster Video.
There are several different types of movie shops.

A checker typically counts the number of people in the theater period sometimes you stay for the movie sometimes you don't . The idea is you're counting the number of people in the theater and it's compared by the client to the number of tickets sold.

There used to be some mystery shop type movie theater shops where you stayed for the movie and evaluated the experience.

The theater installs are the cardboard standies that you see in the lobbies. you don't get to watch the movie for those you just get to come and put together and stand up the cardboard cutouts.

The other type of check involves watching and taking notes of the trailers that played before the movie and most of the time, you are not staying for the full movie.

Hope this helps a little?
Thank you! That helps a lo!. The main thing I wonder about is the darkness. It takes a while for my eyes to adjust. It's dark when I go in and hard to see how many people are there.

Depends on the assignment. Sometimes you get in there very early and other times you count on the way out.
