How much of a fee.

They announced last fall that they would be doing that. The way to avoid the fees is to go with direct deposit to your bank account.

I got a note on that one and there was a fee to that too!

Yours may have a currency issue CanadaMommy. Mine came in on the 16th in full as a direct deposit.

There is a $1.00 fee on paypal only. Direct Deposit, as Flash said, fees are paid in full.

I have no fees on PayPal from STN. PayPal will charge a conversion fee when a US company pays you, CanadaMommy-regardless.

There are no charges for converting your money from US$ to CDN$ or vice-versa. The more-or-less standard conversion rates apply.

Monies are deposited in one's Paypal account in the currency in which they were paid. If I get paid by STN in US$, Paypal leaves it in US$ until I want to withdraw then a conversion rate applies, which lately means that I get less money because the Canadian dollar is above par with its US counterpart.

3offthecharts, what conversion fee are you referring to? As far as I know, there is no fee, only a conversion rate.

Paypal charges the payer 3% of the transaction. Most companies swallow this as the cost of doing business but a few are starting to charge the fees to the shopper, i.e. CoRI and STN. I find it insulting that I need to pay anything at all in order to get paid. If companies find it expensive to pay their shoppers that way, perhaps they should invest in the tools to do direct deposit for all the clients, not only those in the US.

Second to None states right on their site that there is a $1.00 deduction for PayPal.

There is a cross-border payment charge for the recipient of any cross-border payment, whether for Goods or Services.

PayPal levels it every time. You have to dig in their site to find the info-but it's there.

It's been that way for the 8 years I have been accepting PP payments for Services.

Again, I am US based-I checked my fees for last month against the payment, there was no $1 deduction.

Within the US I think it depends on the type of account you have with Paypal. I just avoid the potential issue by having them do the direct deposit to my bank. that also avoids the couple of day delay for Paypal to forward on money to my bank.
