DO NOT USE A CHEVRON GIFT CARD for the Customer First shops.

So far, the only response from the MSC is to suggest that we get a Visa gift card, which of course has the same issues. After the third use in one day, it will shut off...guess I could get 10 visa gift cards, BUT the issue then would be the pumps authorizing $50 in advance, and I'm not funding $500 in gift cards winking smiley

There’s also an activation fee on a visa gift card.
New information here as well, after two full days of shops (22 stations), the Chevron system won't take the card anymore. Works fine everywhere else, but even the inside payment system won't accept it. (Yes, there's over $1000 on the card, and it is declined for a $2 purchase). Paypal can't help, since on their end it's fine.
I will continue to swipe at the pump, take a photo of the "declined" screen, and then pay cash inside - which I KNOW they don't want, but their guidelines created the situation.
Interesting that every other gas station with this MSC still allows gift cards. Guess I'll stick with those, and give the Chevron's a rest for a while!

I don't understand. Chevron is no longer taking their own gift cards? They are getting declined at Chevron (outside of the shop situation)?
SoCalMama - no, the system won’t take my debit card - 22 shops in 2 days it just shut off.
Well ok then...I guess that is the end of the Chevron shops for us...woke up this morning to a "pending" charge of 99.75, posted yesterday at a Chevron we did not shop. We finished the Chevron shops on the 21st, so I'm guessing the card got skimmed somehow. Paypal won't do anything as long as the charge is "pending" so I had to cancel the card, move all the funds from that account, and we'll wait for a new card to come in. So incredibly frustrating for a situation that can easily be avoided. We'll stick with the stations that allow their own gift cards!

Has anyone else had Chevron shops cancelled? Did several today, only to get back to enter them, and find out they've been cancelled.

I had my last five today. I reported them all by noon though.
Gift cards are definitely the way to go when allowed. I've been skimmed several times, most recently last month, and it is no fun. But I can see at least one possible reason for their ban during shops. I recently finished a route of gas stations. I couldn't find a gift card to buy in time, so I used my debit/credit cards. I was reminded of how many card reader keypads are defective. When this happens, I'm stuck with the annoyance of having to pay inside, just like a regular customer. If I had used a gift card, I would have just swiped it and never had to use the keypad.
