20% Bonus for my shop

So I have a nice dining shop next week. The reimbursement is $150. As soon as it was assigned to me, I went on the restaurants website and bought a $100 gift card. They had a promotion with a $20 gift card bonus when you buy a $100 gift card. Got my cards today!! This is a fairly expensive place and we usually go over the re, but the extra $20 will help out a lot. Plus I think I get 1 or 2% cash back on my credit card for buying the gift card.

You should verify the shop rules and guidelines before using a gift card to pay... - some shop guidelines don't allow gift cards.
I love you use your rewards cards to shop! So many people do not use this to make more money shopping. I just don't get it. So many cards are offering anywhere from 1-10% cash back right now. Even debit cards! I also use retail me not to do online shops. For Lowes it was offering 5% cash back. Last month my cash back on one card was $116! That paid my cell phone and internet bills! Every $ counts!
mmsackett, you make some very good points! The reason I don't buy gift cards for shops is because an MS project can change at the drop of a hat. A perfect example: one shopper bought a boatload of gift cards for Buffalo Wild Wings because she did the shops frequently. This was two weeks before the program ended.

If the scheduler is someone I have been working for for a time I will send them an email before buying a large $ amt of gift cards for a client and ask if he/she knows if the client will be around for a while and tell them it is because I plan to buy gift cards. I did get stuck with Blaze gift cards when that client stopped shopping but I love Blaze so it was not an issue.
I LOVE using gift cards (or Pay with iBotta) or my Delta AMEX (lots of miles) for shops. I have to make sure that they allow gift cards. I usually buy the gift cards at Kroger when they are running a 4 X the fuel points for buying cards. I can get up to $1 off per gallon per fill up. And if I use my AMEX to pay, I'm getting airline miles.

Yup, I got stuck with a couple of Buffalo Wild Wings cards, but I just used them the next time I was traveling. Five Guys allows cards and so do several of my local restaurants. I think that it helps them not identify you. At least they can't put "SHOPPER" linked to your credit card number. :-)
The holiday period when gift cards offer a bonus with them ,especially for restaurants, is coming soon. One chain i go to already has an offer that is double the annual holiday bonus offering.
In my area except for fast food the restaurants are not back yet so hopefully they will show up before Dec 31st so I can know which ones are still in mystery shopping.
