Wiring money shops.

Has anyone done the wiring money shops? Did you have a difficult time canceling the transaction ? You wire $20.00, then wait a few minutes, then cancel it. Did you get the wire cancelled, and your money returned? Or was it a hassle? There are a couple of these by me, and the pay is $25.00. I am trying to decide if I want to do these or not.
Thank you for any information.

i think there was a post here before about it being an awkward shop.

But maybe it doesn't bother you. Different jobs for different people right?
I've done two or three of these, but none recently. I think the last one was three or four years ago. I did not get my money back immediately (at the location). Each time it took at least a month to get the money back. I can't remember if the MSC or the wire company sent me a check, but I did get the full amount back eventually.
Each shopper has his/her own ick capacity. I hit mine with just one of these shops. YMMV.

I did this shop under a different MSC. I did not get a refund from the wire company, and it took months to get my money from the MSC.

The current MSC says that refunds will be given immediately or something. I have no desire to find out.

I do a few of these a month. 90% of the time I get a full refund of the transaction. The one time I didn’t the current MSC sent it within a few weeks but I had to go to a WU location to get it, so be warned that is a possibility. (It did not have to be the location I shopped.) It’s also really key that when asked why you want a refund you simply say “the person doesn’t need the money.”

The actual report is very easy. Most of the time is spent uploading page after page of the lengthy receipts. Some locations are supermarkets so you may have a wait at the customer service line.

The send shop is easy unless you go at a time when the location is busy. I would avoid beginning of the month, Fridays, etc. You have to return within 30 minutes to get the refund. Otherwise, you get it within a week.

Also much easier to upload the receipt pics if you put them into PDFs.

The awkwardness is in the question shops that don't require you to send any money. Those involve the most ridiculous questions and you have to ask twice. Sending small amounts of money isn't so strange. US$20 can tide you over in the countries used. Some meals and a cab to the airport for a friend who lost their wallet on vacation. Maybe most people would throw $50 or $100 at a minimum, but it's not necessary.
These feel sketchy to me. Maybe because the only locations near me are in sketchy neighborhoods.
This is the only mystery shop that I’ve done, where I ended up with a police officer calling me to ask questions about the scenario. Suffice it to say, that was the one and only time I did one of these.

On the positive side, the store personnel were very alert and called the police to try to prevent what they thought was fraud.
In this area, most of these stores are in seedy locations and you are lucky if you get one where the clerk can speak and understand English. The trick to getting your money back is to go to any MoneyTree store. They have many locations, will return your money quickly with no hassle and thank you with a smile.
