As you might imagine, after a few gas station audits, the cashiers have gotten to recognize me. This last time, at one of the locations, one of them, who was standing off to the side, said "secret shopper" and, of course, rushed over (after the transaction) to ask if I had a rewards card, etc. Of course, it was too late, but it was a close call. He said that, next time, he's going to say it in "Indian," which I'm guessing is Hindi.
So, my question: can anyone give me serviceable Hindi translations and transliterations for "mystery shopper" and "secret shopper"?
Edit: Duh, I know there are translation web sites, but they tend to lose nuance.
Yes, I thought my post would double as an earnest request and an interesting story.@chiffon cupcakes wrote:
I think what you're asking is how to say those words in Hindi, so that you know if the employees are on to you next time? Is that right?
Not sure I follow. If they're audits, why do you care if they know? You're auditing. Do you mean mystery shop? (I guess the term "unrevealed audit" exists but to me that's just a mystery shop.)@chrisg0619 wrote:

Hey, if they keep paying me, I'll keep shopping.@KokoBWare wrote:
I'd also say that if it's a mystery shop and you see the same guy again, knowing that he's on to you, it doesn't really matter what language he says it in, English, Hindi, Swahili, Esperanto or Pig Latin. He's on to you and will sound the alarm. I might avoid that location for a while.
