Approved HazMat shippers

I've only done a few of these shops because the reimbursement is so little compared to what it might actually cost. But the worst part was trying to explain why I WANTED to pay $23 to send it USPS when it was only $13 to send it UPS. I'm usually a good actress but can't pull this off. What do YOU say?

Several options: "I have had lousy luck with stuff sent by UPS." "This is going to my [sister/brother/friend] and [he/she] insisted it be mailed rather than sent by carrier." But the reality is that if you are at USPS they are unlikely to suggest a competitor.

Lol that is a hard one. Perhaps you can say you've had a really bad experience with UPS and are refusing to use it for now.

I know it feels like they'll know immediately that you are a shopper but just try to keep a straight face and maybe you'll be able to play it off!

I prefer to support USPS. My such and such works for them or used to work for them.

This is a true story to use....often USPS has the key to an inside lobby in a multifamily building. UPS and FedEx do not so they leave the packages out on the street often to be stolen, esp during xmas time. I found out the hard way the first holiday season my daughter lived in one of those locked buildings.

Absolutely correct, I lived in just such a building for a while. USPS delivered inside the lobby and other left things outside.
