Question about Audio Recording Apps & Devices

What are the most reliable and trusted apps for discreet audio recordings?

Do any of you use an actual physical recorder? Is it easier or harder than an app?

I'm a little reluctant with audio apps for fear they'll fail on me during the actual shop.

I've been looking on Amazon for discreet recorders.

Any opinions? Suggestions?

I have always relied upon a small ini-recorder that will then plug directly into my computer to copy the recording. Olympus Digital Audio recorder. It is about the size of a narrow pack of gum sticks.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
You have the best record already, it is your smartphone. I have had very good luck picking up voices that are low pitch I can not hear. I am using android with Smart Recorder app But Google Recorder is good also
When it is legal to record, I often record using more than one device. My phone is usually one of them. The second device is usually a discreet one that can be attached to my keys or even worn around my neck, in plain view. I also have used Olympus recorders with built-in USB connectors and other small digital voice recorders.

I turn off all audio notifications on my phone when I am using it to record.
I merely employ the audio setting on my PV-500. I would guess my audio to video ratio is 1 in 50 shops.
You can try Quick Voice Pro which lets you record while your phone is your pocket or purse. The only issue with this is you have to put your phone in "Do Not Disturb" so a phone call doesn't interrupt the recording. I have never had any issues with the app in "DND". You can even email the audio through the app.
Any one ever use Spy Glasses for audio and video of apartments? If so, how successful have you been? Also any one have a brand to recommend? I see alot on ebay for around $15. And any other advise, I'm new to the audio/video shopping. Thanks in advance for any responses!! I hope all of you are healthy and well. ;smiling smiley Lori

I use voice recorder on my phone and sometimes use the bookmark feature to mark notable timings so I know where to listen for the interactions when I play it back later.
